It's hard to believe how in an alternate timeline, fans would have had  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  nearly two years ago, on May 1, 2020. Thanks to a big Twitter scandal and that not-so-minor pandemic event, the release never happened. Instead, audiences still have an entire year left to go before they can see their favorite group of ragtag cosmic misfits take center stage. Morbius  has hit theaters worldwide and quickly became the butt of plenty of jokes at the film's expense. The movie continues a disappointing trend of Sony Spider-Man-adjacent films without including the webhead himself. Expect this time, Sony's efforts are not proving profitable at the box office like the past two  Venom  films. This has left the Jared Leto-led flick in a hard spot. Through the years,  Black Panther: Wakanda Forever  had its fair share of ups and downs. The film's development suffered a major setback when lead star Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away in 2020, leaving director Ryan Coogler to map out a new narrative. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the studio agreed not to recast T'Challa, meaning that the sequel will have to address his absence moving forward.  Wakanda Forever will feature a returning cast led by Letitia Wright's Shuri, Danai Gurira's Okoye, Winston Duke's M'Baku, and Angela Bassett's Ramonda. Fans of Riri Williams were excited to hear confirmation that the teenage hero, known as Ironheart, would be making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever . When Disney's acquisition of Fox was finalized in 2019, many had immediately assumed it meant the scrapping of Fox's own X-Men franchise with plans to incorporate the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony is coming out of 2021 on a massive high note thanks to how successful its latest Spider-Man film has been.  No Way Home  completely smashed records, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and became one of the biggest movies of all time. Not only that, but it has continued to outdo  Avengers: Endgame , this time with digital pre-orders (per Vudu). The Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe have set the standard for interconnected storytelling with major crossovers from the franchises' biggest heroes. Marvel's  Agents of SHIELD  populated the 2010s with seven seasons of adventures for Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson and company. While the series   has yet to be integrated into proper Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, the network television series' cult following cannot be understated. Long before The Walt Disney Company acquired 20th Century Fox and all of its assets, Fox was the studio responsible for producing movies based on the X-Men, as it was the owner of the film rights for Marvel's uncanny mutants. Ms. Marvel  is set to debut on Disney+ in 2022, introducing fans to Kamala Khan, a young teenager who looks up to Captain Marvel. Pakistani-American actress Iman Vellani will be starring as the lead in the series, with the main focus centering on how Kamala gains her powers and becomes a hero herself. The show finished production back in May 2021 but is set to go through reshoots in the coming weeks.
