While the first two Venom movies became somewhat successful, financially more than critically, things have not gone so well for the studio in recent times. Following the amazing critical and financial success from Spider-Man: No Way Home , Sony Pictures continues working to expand its own cache of Spider-Man movies outside of the MCU. Before the critical and financial letdown from Morbius and ahead of Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter , this venture started with Tom Hardy’s Venom movies in 2018 and 2021. Hardy's first outing as Eddie Brock and his symbiotic alien best friend shocked the world, earning more than $850 million at the global box office along with an 81% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. Spider-Man: No Way Home  has migrated to digital media, but the conversation about 2021's biggest film is still going strong. Sony Pictures is in quite an interesting position with its superhero projects, both in an out of their Spider-Man Universe. The company's latest team-up with Marvel Studios in Spider-Man: No Way Home became the hit movie of 2021 as it makes its way toward its home release on digital and physical media. Now, Sony is preparing to bring Morbius to theaters, the second solo franchise after Tom Hardy's Venom  and its sequel. Venom has been portrayed twice in live-action movies, with his first appearance coming from Topher Grace in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 . Millions of Marvel fans have, by now, witnessed the triumphant return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's cinematic Spider-Men in  Spider-Man: No Way Home . The Sony and Marvel Studios threequel not only proved to be an impressive outing for the MCU's main Peter Parker, Tom Holland, but through Multiversal shenanigans, it was able to bring in "Peter 2" and "Peter 3”, played by Maguire and Garfield, respectively. No Way Home ended up smashing box-office records and cementing its place as one of the top-grossing movies of all time. Sony's Marvel universe is expanding after the successful introduction of Tom Hardy's Venom. The next Spider-Man spin-off series that will take center stage is Jared Leto's Morbius , a movie that centers around the titular living vampire. Although the character is a villain to the web-slinger in the comics, the upcoming film will depict Morbius as an anti-hero, similar to Venom.  In the past year, Morbius  experienced numerous delays due to the pandemic. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has easily become one of the most loved heroes in all of pop culture. Sony Pictures is in the midst of a theatrical Spider mania across the globe. Not only is  Spider-Man: No Way Home  breaking records worldwide, but the studio also has plans to re-release last year's  Venom: Let There Be Carnage  to further satiate Spidey fans.
