It's hard to believe how in an alternate timeline, fans would have had  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3  nearly two years ago, on May 1, 2020. Thanks to a big Twitter scandal and that not-so-minor pandemic event, the release never happened. Instead, audiences still have an entire year left to go before they can see their favorite group of ragtag cosmic misfits take center stage. One of the many reasons why the Guardians of the Galaxy movies took off was due to the film's impressive playlist. James Gunn's two MCU blockbusters introduced the Awesome Mix playlists, collections of iconic songs from the '60s and '70s. James Gunn has had quite the last few years. The filmmaker started out in the superhero genre with  Guardians of the Galaxy  and its sequel, projects which transformed obscure names into extremely popular characters. But then came the bump in the road: Gunn was fired from Marvel Studios thanks to a Twitter scandal; many thought that was going to be the end of his career. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. Not only did Disney eventually see the light, but Gunn was also able to create The Suicide Squad  because of it—a project which led to him creating one of the most popular shows of this year in John Cena's  Peacemaker . Just a few weeks ago, Warner Bros. completely changed up its upcoming slate of DC Comics projects. Dwayne Johnson's  Black Adam  was shifted into later this year and both  The Flash  and  Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom  were pushed into 2023.  Shazam! Fury of the Gods  got the long end of the stick, and instead of being bumped, was pulled into December of this year. Now, instead of 3-4 more live-action projects for 2022, fans are only looking at two. It's a sad change for many, but on the bright side, at least they didn't all get pushed into next year. But what caused the entire shift in the slate?
