For the tenth time in just over a year, a new era of the MCU has begun.  Moon Knight  Episode 1 has been released on Disney+ and another character has been added to the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe roster. There are a variety of reasons for fans to be excited about  Moon Knight,  ranging from excitement over the lead star Oscar Isaac to where this character is heading in future projects, but  Moon Knight  provides something that no other project, streaming or otherwise, has ever provided for the MCU.  Phase 4 has taken the post-Infinity Saga MCU to entirely new heights across the board. Narratively, fans are experiencing the passing of mantles and introductions to worlds unknown. Socially, characters like Wanda Maximoff, Sam Wilson, and Clint Barton are reaching leading levels of fandom they hadn't seen before. Marvel Studios'  Moon Knight  is just around the corner. After the long three-month wait since the last MCU affair, fans are getting ready to dive into the deep end of Marc Spector's broken psyche; one that believes he's been gifted with superpowers thanks to the Egyptian God of the Moon. Oscar Isaac plays the titular character(s), opposite of Ethan Hawke's villainous Arthur Harrow. There are many unique elements the upcoming series will bring to the table, but one of those will be how international the entire story is. As Marvel Studios looks to kick off its 2022 content schedule in a couple of weeks with  Moon Knight,  its parent company, Disney, finds itself in a shroud of controversy. The Hollywood megalith has had accusations lobbied its way in regard to Florida's 'Don't' Say Gay' bill. Until recently Disney had remained silent on the matter of the prejudiced piece of lawmaking, and fans were not happy.  The 'Don't Say Gay' bill has made headlines in recent weeks all over the world, as Florida looks to remove any mention of gender identity or sexual orientation from public school. Marvel Studios is set to explore Halloween like never before by introducing its very own Disney+ special for the spooky season. Although details about the upcoming project are still sparse, some concrete information has slowly made headlines in the past fewmonths. For starters, it is widely rumored to revolve around Jack Russell a.k.a. Werewolf By Night.  Rumors indicate that the Halloween special could potentially arrive after Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight, meaning that it may premiere in time for Halloween 2022. After a jam-packed year of content, the span between Hawkeye and Spider-Man: No Way Home and the launch of Marvel's 2022 slate has made all MCU fans wish Thanos hadn't destroyed Doctor Strange's Time Stone. While the MCU proved it was open to cliffhanger endings right from the beginning, there weren't many of them until Phase 3 of the franchise. Upon the completion of Marvel's Infinity Saga, it seemed that the Multiverse was the MCU's next big threat, affecting characters from Loki to Wanda Maximoff to Peter Parker and Doctor Strange. While that appears to be true, one of Marvel's latest Phase 4 films, Eternals , didn't seem to contribute to the greater MCU or the current phase's overarching story at all. Following the acquisition of 20th Century Fox Studios, MCU fans are highly anticipating the eventual arrival of the fabled X-Men. While the only rumored project featuring these heroes in live-action is The Mutants , another famous variation of the team will make an unexpected return in X-Men '97 . Marvel Studios will take the famed '90s animated series and continue its story for a new generation of X-Men fans. X-Men '97 came as part of a massive round of announcements at Disney+ Day 2021, which included various new animated projects like Spider-Man: Freshman Year and Marvel Zombies . This one has a unique opportunity, however, by being able to move a classic story from the past generation forward while bringing it up to the MCU's standard of storytelling. The Multiverse is now being pushed to the forefront in the MCU, but there are still projects that mainly focus on expanding the franchise's roster of heroes. One of them is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings . Until Disney+ came along to shake things up, theatrical releases served as Marvel Studios' primary way of distributing MCU content. Although, along the way, the studio produced eight short films to serve as bonus features on its physical releases starring popular Avengers, SHIELD agents, and totally new characters in the Marvel world. From 2011 to 2014, Marvel Studios released five One-Shots on its Blu-ray bonus features that tied loosely to the theatrical releases and told short side stories in the MCU.
