In recent years, Marvel has proactively taken bigger steps to adapt its various IPs into quality blockbuster level games; not just the lackluster mobile games they've been known for. Some of these projects blossom into critical hits like Insomniac Games'  Spider-Man , while others devolve into disappointing messes like Square Enix's  Avengers.  Another one of its recent games, and one of the best from a critical standpoint, is  Guardians of the Galaxy . Spider-Man: No Way Home is slowly rising in the box office ranks of the highest-grossing movies of all time. The Tom Holland-led threequel has been a consistent frontrunner in the weekend box office ever since its worldwide premiere back in December 2021, showing no signs of slowing down. So far, No Way Home has earned $1.8 billion in total, making it the sixth-highest grossing movie of all time.  No Way Home 's box office dominance led some to speculate if a theatrical re-release is in order for the film to break the top five list. So far, Phase 4 of the MCU has brought in new heroes and new threats while addressing the state of society post-blip; but of all these new faces and focuses, the Multiverse appears to be the driving force behind the new narrative. Following  Loki and What If...? on Disney+, Marvel cracked open the Multiversal door in Spider-Man: No Way Home ; but come May 6, 2022, Doctor Strange 2 is expected to dive in headfirst. Marvel Studios and Sony's  Spider-Man: No Way Home  took the world by storm and webbed up the hearts and minds of millions of fans and critics alike. The 1.5 billion dollar-grossing film featured an assortment of Multiversal villains (like Alfred Molina's Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx's Electro) and also included special appearances from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions of Peter Parker, from Spider-Man movies past. Teaming up with Tom Holland's MCU-native Web-Slinger, the three Spideys took on the bad guys and saved the day before depositing everyone back into their own universes. Eternals  is fast approaching its January 12 release on Disney+, allowing even more viewers worldwide to watch the sci-fi epic. New information has suggested that the film could even be seeing an extended cut, which would make Eternals the first Marvel Studios release to receive one. In anticipation of the streaming debut, the cast and crew have spoken a bit more about the film's production as well. Director Chloé Zhao revealed that the film was originally intended to feature a much darker ending, which would have seen the Eternals simply continue on to bring about the Emergence on another planet. Spider-Man: No Way Home has no shortage of epic moments in its 2.5-hour runtime.
