Marvel Studios Boss Reflects on 'Painful' Pandemic Challenges

Although Marvel Studios is looking forward to an exciting year of new content releases, it's been anything but easy getting back to the studio's current place of prominence. The worldwide pandemic caused difficulties for every studio in the business, but it happened to come at the most inopportune time considering where the MCU was going into 2020. Although Phase 3 and the Infinity Saga as a whole ended in 2019, the start of Phase 4 was delayed by more than six months from May 2020 to January 2021. This included starting the new slate of projects on Disney+ with WandaVision rather than in theaters with Black Widow , and  Black Widow  even had to debut with a dual theatrical/streaming release in July 2021. No Way Home Designer Opens Up About Tobey & Andrew VFX Challenges

As Marvel Studios moves ahead toward a massive release slate in 2022, one holdover from December is still dominating theaters in Spider-Man: No Way Home . The movie paid an incredible tribute to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's films of the 21st century, even letting both actors return to their roles as the MCU gave fans a first taste at just how vast the Multiverse really is. For a movie that was "only" two and a half hours long, Marvel and Sony found a way to pack No Way Home full of exciting action and emotional moments from beginning to end.
