Moon Knight Director Explains Why the Show Is Avoiding MCU Connections

Image
Fans across the world are currently enjoying Marvel Studios' most recent Disney+ series,  Moon Knight . The Oscar Isaac-led show sees its titular character having to navigate with their Dissociative Identity Disorder, alongside dealing with the fact that they are the Avatar to the Egyptian God of the Moon, Khonshu. However, this project has one key difference from its other MCU brethren: it stands wholly on its own. For many, that quality is one of the most refreshing aspects of the show. There aren't cameos from other MCU heroes, references to bigger world events (like the Statue of Liberty debacle), or even any need for prior knowledge—audiences can jump right in at episode one and know everything they need to. ADVERTISEMENT It's an interesting aspect that, for better or worse, is rarely seen in Marvel's projects. Even the recent  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , which set up an entirely new corner of the world, had heavy ref...

Moon Knight's Hippopotamus Explained: Taweret's MCU Connections Revealed

Image
Moon Knight delivered an in-depth look at the lore of the Egyptian gods of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the third episode giving viewers an understanding of the Ennead, their backstory, and why they chose to abandon humans. During the installment, five avatars of the gods were featured, namely  Horus, Isis, Tefnut, Osiris, and Hathor.  The Ennead was involved in several significant moments in Episode 3. First, the gods were summoned by Khonshu for Arthur Harrow's trial, ultimately leading to an unfortunate end on the Moon god's part as his fellow deities didn't believe his accusation. The group then resurfaces at the episode's ending, with them imprisoning Khonshu in stone due to him turning back the night sky.  ADVERTISEMENT Originally, the Ennead is composed of nine Egyptian gods, but Moon Knight only showed five of them (six, if Khonshu was not banished). This led to speculation among fans about what happened to the other gods. ...

No Way Home Writer Explains Loki Finale Connections

Image
While Marvel Studios' Phase 4 doesn't have an announced Avengers film to build to, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and company are planting the seeds for plenty of big picture narratives. Both  The Falcon and the Winter Soldier  and  Black Widow  included the presence of the mysterious Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who appears to be assembling an Earth's Mightiest Heroes roster of her own.  WandaVision ,  Loki , and  Spider-Man: No Way Home  toyed with Multiversal concepts, and while each yielded vastly different consequences, all of those roads are leading to  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That said, just because projects are leading into one big event doesn't mean they directly tie into one another. 2014's  Guardians of the Galaxy  and 2015's  Avengers: Age of Ultron  both featured  Avengers: Infinity War  antagonist Thanos, and while all three of those films are set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, nothing fro...
