Sam Raimi Gets Candid About 'Superhero Overdose' After Spider-Man Trilogy

Image
Despite having been absent from the superhero genre for well over a decade, until this year that is, Sam Raimi is among the most famous names behind the camera in the genre. Many modern Marvel fans grew up with Tobey Maguire's  Spider-Man  trilogy, which Raimi directed, and to this day, it currently stands as a legacy figure among Marvel's greatest flicks. The filmmaker kickstarted his superhero career with 2002's Spider-Man  and began a hiatus after 2007's  Spider-Man 3 , following Sony's interference in both the third installment and Raimi's plans for the franchise's future. Fifteen years later, Raimi makes his return to Marvel with  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  in the MCU, having replaced Scott Derrickson in the directing chair amid creative differences. Marvel Director Gets Candid About the MCU’s Lack of a Plan

There are many reasons the MCU keeps on winning: consistent quality, blockbuster action, and interconnected storytelling on a scale never put to screen before. Across the Infinity Saga, Marvel Studios spent over ten years introducing audiences to heroes and villains and building towards an epic conclusion that got audiences so invested that it went on to become the biggest film of all time. Naturally, the numerous projects that have released over the latest 14 years have come courtesy of countless creative geniuses, but one man sits at the helm of it all: Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Benedict Cumberbatch Gets Candid About Difficulties on Doctor Strange 2: Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be the next addition to Marvel Studios' theatrical slate following the wildly-successful Spider-Man: No Way Home . While Benedict Cumberbatch's solo sequel is matching the hype that came from his last movie in 2021, it's also been plagued with difficulties throughout most of its production. Issues started when Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson left the director's chair for this project, even though he remained involved as a producer while Sam Raimi took over his position. Then came the pandemic-induced delays that pushed the entire Phase 4 schedule back, which preceded six weeks of reshoots for the sequel, although the reasons behind the latter are still unknown. ADVERTISEMENT Ahead of Multiverse of Madness ' release, Cumberbatch has spent plenty of time on the interview train discussing every angle of his work on the second Doctor Strange solo outing. Eternals Director Gets Candid About Negative Reactions to Her Marvel Movie

Image
Marvel Studios is coming off of one of its most successful films in all of the MCU, both critically and financially, thanks to Tom Holland's  Spider-Man: No Way Home . Ironically, the movie that released just before it, Chloé Zhao’s Eternals , became the lowest-rated film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Rotten Tomatoes. But does it deserve it? That’s the million-dollar question amongst audiences who have watched it, and thanks to its recent debut on Disney+, discourse on the topic still rages on. Even the movie’s director encouraged fans to add to the discussion as it became available to stream all over the world. ADVERTISEMENT With how hyped up the project was prior to its release, it was certainly a letdown for the project to land as flatly as it did. Now, Zhao has once again spoken out about the divisive reception to the film and spoke candidly about the whole situation. Chloé Zhao Gets Candid on Eternals Marvel In an interview with Empire O...

It should be no surprise to fans that Oscar Isaac's  Moon Knight will focus on Marc Spector's mental health issues, considering its importance to the character in the comics. In essence, the audience will learn about his disorder alongside Grant as he tries to figure out what's happening to him. Evangeline Lilly Gets Candid About 'Difficult' Filming In Lockdown

Image
Although Marvel Studios has its entire slate of 2022 projects still coming as scheduled, 2023 is setting up to be an equally big year for the growing franchise as well. For the time being, the last theatrical project of that year will be Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania , which will see Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly join forces for their biggest solo adventure to date. As has been the case with nearly every MCU project in Phase 4, Marvel Studios' third solo Ant-Man movie has had to deal with the challenges of completing production with the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic still being a reality. The threequel was only officially announced at Disney Investor Day in December 2020, meaning all shooting and production would have to be done with elevated safety protocols. Andrew Garfield Gets Candid About 'Beautiful' Zendaya Moment In Spider-Man: No Way Home

Image
Spider-Man: No Way Home may have been the culminating event for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, but it also provided opportunities for the past generations of wall-crawlers to web up their loose ends. Both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men primarily appear as mentors to Holland’s Peter, but both take the time to evolve their own characters from when fans last saw them. While Maguire’s Peter did deal with the loss of his best friend, 2007’s Spider-Man 3 at least ended with Kirsten Dunst’s Mary Jane Watson and Rosemary Harris’s Aunt May by his side. For Garfield’s Peter, he’s not only left without the love of his life, but he sees her blood on his hands in 2014’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2. ADVERTISEMENT This self-diagnosed accountability took a toll on his psyche as well. Garfield hints that his Peter “stopped pulling his punches” in No Way Home , suggesting The Amazing Spider-Man ’s hero developed quite the mean streak. Garfield’s Peter can’t ch...
