Marvel Is Done With Chris Pratt's Guardians of the Galaxy After Vol. 3, Says Director
Before Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters in 2014, the space-traveling team was among Marvel's least known heroes. But after the critical and financial success of James Gunn's MCU directing debut, Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot quickly became household names, even getting on the fast track to a sequel that debuted in 2017. Fast-forward almost a decade, and shooting is well underway on the third and final installment of the trilogy to release in summer 2023; a festive Holiday Special is on the way to Disney+ in fall 2022 preceding that movie. The Guardians will also first make an appearance in some capacity in Thor: Love and Thunder in July 2022.
