The future looks like it is going to be anything but boring for Marvel Studios and the MCU. Ever since Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the Marvel toybox expanded ten-fold. Coming with the Fox purchase were all the heroes that the studio owned the film and TV rights to. This list included Wolverine, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four.  Fans have gotten their first tease of these characters coming to the MCU thanks to Patrick Stewart's inclusion in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  and the announcement of Jon Watts' Fantastic Four film. Moon Knight  is mere days away from its premiere on Disney+, and fans are eager with anticipation. Scott Derrickson was first announced as the director of  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  in 2018 after first taking the reins on 2016's Doctor Strange . At San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Multiverse of Madness was revealed to be an MCU movie that would make fans jump, mainly due to Derrickson being a horror director at heart.  However, in January 2020, Derrickson departed the project. C. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the next film on Marvel Studios’ slate, and it’s set to bring Benedict Cumberbatch back into the titular role as he tries to keep all reality from breaking apart. Returning with him are Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong’s Sorcerer Supreme, and newcomer Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez. The Multiverse is in full effect with  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  set to hit theaters on May 6. With it comes the possibility of other franchises making their MCU debuts, with one of the more likely being the X-Men. Following Elizabeth Olsen's Phase 4 debut in WandaVision , she will bring a more powerful Scarlet Witch than ever before into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . The MCU's first movie of 2022 is already building substantial momentum in terms of hype, largely thanks to Wanda's story continuing after her starring efforts on Disney+. Although Marvel Studios' Disney+ shows are deeply interwoven with the movies, fans haven't gotten the chance to see just how tied together they are through Marvel Studios' first year of streaming shows. In mid-February, Netflix announced that it would be losing the streaming rights to all of its Marvel shows by the end of the month. This would include its original slate of series, which made up an entire Marvel era in and of themselves.  Daredevil ,  Jessica Jones ,  Luke Cage , and  Iron Fist  will all be finding a new home. The only problem is: nobody knows where that'll be. One of the biggest roadblocks that keep them from making a simple switch over to Disney+ is the content held within. At the top of that list is Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool, who already has two solo movies under his belt and is well on his way toward a third. Marvel Studios is hard at work on post-production for the next chapter in the Thor franchise:  Thor: Love and Thunder . The film series underwent a bit of a creative revamp in 2017's  Thor: Ragnarok,  which injected a bit more humor, by the hand of director, Taika Waititi.  Love and Thunder  will reunite most of the cast members from  Ragnarok  and with Waititi at the helm yet again, fans are likely in for a wild ride. One of the characters Waititi introduced into the MCU is the fan-favorite Brunnhilde, (mainly referred to as Valkyrie in the films) as portrayed by Tessa Thompson. Valkyrie is an ex-member of an elite Asgardian fighting force who was slaughtered by Hela, the Goddess of Death. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures continue to make their mark on the entertainment industry thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home 's record-breaking theatrical run. Coming up on a full month since the threequel debuted worldwide, the film is now encroaching on the top five box office returns of all time while being one of the best-reviewed films in recent memory. Now that the MCU’s slate of projects for 2021 is over after the Spider-Man threequel, the team is prepping for potentially a dozen new entries in 2022 as it looks to the distant future as well.
