In the time following Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame , the MCU has only expanded thanks to new characters, Disney+ series storytelling, and the Multiverse. Thor: Love and Thunder  is set to unveil a brand-new chapter for Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder. This time around, the Marvel hero will be joined by a slew of old and new allies such as Korg, Valkyrie, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. Thor and his team of heroes are confirmed to be pitted against Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher, a Marvel villain known for slaying Gods across different mythologies.  Despite knowing the villain, the plot details of Love and Thunder are still being kept under wraps, meaning that it still remains mystery on how Gorr will be introduced in the movie. Phase 4 has set the stage for the Multiverse to become integral to the future of the MCU with both  Loki  and  Spider-Man: No Way Home  taking full advantage of the concept. Marvel Studios is set to add Thor: Love and Thunder to the Phase 4 slate in July 2022, which will mark the first time any leading MCU hero has enjoyed a fourth solo film. Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder became part of the MCU's holy trinity alongside Captain America and Iron Man throughout the Infinity Saga, often putting his Asgardian hammer Mjolnir down along the way.
