After directing two legendary wall-crawler outings in the early 2000s, his third outing was plagued by studio interference from Sony, leading to a critical flop and Raimi's departure from the planned fourth installment.  With a primary reputation as a horror director, Raimi's interest in the comic book genre doesn't begin with his Spider-Man trilogy. The filmmaker once pitched a Thor film to Fox alongside Stan Lee in the '90s that never saw the light of day. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse  is a film that's been a long time coming. Benedict Cumberbatch's leading sorcerer hasn't had a solo movie since his debut in 2016. Since then, he's played a part in other ensemble films such as  Avengers: Infinity War ,  Endgame ,  Spider-Man: No Way Home . His moment to finally take on the limelight is at hand as he is forced to try to keep the Multiverse from being destroyed—how hard could it be?
