In a few weeks, Marvel fans will have a brand-new way to experience Guardians of the Galaxy ; this time, it's not on the big screen or on Disney+. Set to open at Walt Disney World's EPCOT on May 27, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a new indoor roller coaster featuring Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket, and the rest of the gang; but this time, fans are a part of the adventure.  The story behind  Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind  is that the Celestial Eson is behind  "space and time rewinding." Following the conclusion of 2019's Avengers : Endgame , Marvel fans haven't seen or heard much from Star-Lord and the misfit crew. But now, it's time to save the galaxy. Again . While the debut teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder offered a first look at the Guardians' roles in the upcoming July film, fans will have the chance to see the team before their big-screen comeback when  Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind opens at Walt Disney World's EPCOT. Much like the Guardians themselves, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a lot. Disney has described the ride as both a "family-thrill coaster" and a "story coaster" that rotates 360 degrees and features a reverse launch. After their pivotal roles in both Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame , Phase 4 of the MCU has been largely Guardians-less with the exception of their animated roles in Disney+'s  What If...?  Thankfully, that's all about to change. In addition to their anticipated return in Thor: Love and Thunder , the I Am Groot spin-off could debut this summer, while the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is confirmed for later this year. During a Super Bowl LIV commercial break, Marvel Studios promised that the  "universe [was] expanding."  At the time, that meant canonical streaming series like  WandaVision  and  Loki  coming to Disney+, but since then, the expansion tagline has taken on a whole new meaning. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has debuted animated shows, brought characters from Netflix projects into their blockbusters, and is set to air two live-action Disney+ specials later this year. Among those one-offs is The   Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special , which will be the second time fans see Peter Quill and company in the MCU this year.
