Marvel Studios has worked hard to prove its commitment to the inclusion of characters that represent all walks of life, especially people of color and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. On the LGBTQIA+ front, from Phastos in  Eternals  to Loki and Sylvie in  Loki , Marvel has taken major steps toward making the world in the MCU look more like the world around us.   The heavily anticipated  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  will be no exception, either. While the story will, of course, focus heavily on Benedict Cumberbatch's titular character and Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, it will also introduce Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. The upcoming  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is a sequel full of both second steps and new beginnings. The film will continue the long-running stories of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange and Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, while also launching fan-favorite rookie characters like Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. The MCU has recently taken strides to improve its representation, with  Eternals  having showcased the first LGBTQIA+ relationship in the universe. This representation only looks set to grow with  Thor: Love and Thunder 's Valkyrie and  Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 's Okoye reportedly set to enter LGBTQIA+ relationships in the near future. As this happens in the MCU, Florida recently passed the controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill into law that will ban public schools from mentioning gender identity or sexual orientation. With Disney housing much of its operations in the Sunshine State, employees and fans were expecting the family-focused organization to oppose the legislation. As Marvel Studios looks to kick off its 2022 content schedule in a couple of weeks with  Moon Knight,  its parent company, Disney, finds itself in a shroud of controversy. The Hollywood megalith has had accusations lobbied its way in regard to Florida's 'Don't' Say Gay' bill. Until recently Disney had remained silent on the matter of the prejudiced piece of lawmaking, and fans were not happy.  The 'Don't Say Gay' bill has made headlines in recent weeks all over the world, as Florida looks to remove any mention of gender identity or sexual orientation from public school. And as Disney houses a large share of its organization in the state, fans (and employees) were expecting a response from the company on the overtly anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation. Fans await the day the MCU machine starts back up again and the cycle of hype surrounding the franchise to kick into full gear yet again. However, there has been a bit of a rain cloud hanging over Disney at the moment as the company faces backlash for its general silence around Florida's controversial 'Don't Say Gay' bill.  The piece of legislation would ban the discussion of gender identity and sexual orientation in schools in a state where Disney bases much of its operations. Marvel Studios is hard at work on post-production for the next chapter in the Thor franchise:  Thor: Love and Thunder . The film series underwent a bit of a creative revamp in 2017's  Thor: Ragnarok,  which injected a bit more humor, by the hand of director, Taika Waititi.  Love and Thunder  will reunite most of the cast members from  Ragnarok  and with Waititi at the helm yet again, fans are likely in for a wild ride. One of the characters Waititi introduced into the MCU is the fan-favorite Brunnhilde, (mainly referred to as Valkyrie in the films) as portrayed by Tessa Thompson. With Spider-Man: No Way Home closing out the year, fans are already looking forward to next year. While Spidey's adventure may have been the most anticipated MCU outing this year, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever  arguably takes the crown in 2022.
