How Loki's Writer Convinced Marvel Studios to Change Kang Character

Image
Marvel Studios had a big year on Disney+ in 2021 with shows like  WandaVision  and  Hawkeye , but it is hard to think of a project that sets up the future of the MCU more than  Loki . The consequences of the Multiverse were briefly displayed in  Spider-Man: No Way Home , and will be further explored in  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , but viewers were introduced to the concept in  Loki . Tom Hiddleston's Loki was taken captive by the TVA at the beginning of the series due to his actions in  Avengers: Endgame . After he met Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie and learned that she was a variant of him from a different universe, the pair set out to get answers to all the questions. ADVERTISEMENT In the finale of Season 1, Sylvie and Loki come face to face with the man behind the curtain - He Who Remains. Portrayed by Jonathan Majors, the character informs them that he has been the one keeping all the universes in check and then is killed by Syl...

Doctor Strange 2 Crew Gift Teases Major Unconfirmed Character

The wait is almost over. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is within weeks of its May 6 theatrical release; and if its ticket sales thus far are any indication, fans are more than ready for this Multiversal epic. While the fact that the film follows Spider-Man: No Way Home is definitely intriguing, much of the appeal of Doctor Strange 2 has to do with its mystery and cast.  In addition to Benedict Cumberbatch's Dr. Stephen Strange and Benedict Wong as Wong, Multiverse of Madness also stars Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, following her "incident" in WandaVision on Disney+, as well as the return of Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer. ADVERTISEMENT Still, that's not all. Xochitl Gomez is set to make her MCU debut as America Chavez, and Wanda's kids, Billy and Tommy, are also confirmed to return. Plus, there's the potential for Variants and Multiversal crossovers, including that of Patrick Stewart's Profes...

Marvel Studios is in the fast lane to  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . The sequel's marketing campaign officially kicked off in the post-credits of  Spider-Man: No Way Home , and has only surged since.  Doctor Strange 2  dropped its official trailer during this year's Super Bowl to thunderous applause, and ticket pre-sales already have the film on track for a incredible opening weekend. With Disney+'s  Moon Knight  entering its mid-season this Wednesday, Marvel Studios has turned up the dial on its theatrical marketing. New rumblings indicate the  Thor: Love and Thunder  trailer is imminent, but April largely belongs to  Doctor Strange 2 . The Benedict Cumberbatch-led sequel has confirmed its unexpected runtime and debuted its official poster within the past week. ADVERTISEMENT That aforementioned poster combined the film's leading stars into one glass-shattering image. Now, each character has received their own standalone s...

Doctor Strange 2 Report Confirms Gay Main Character

Image
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ' story looks like it's going to be one hell of an adventure as audiences follow Benedict Cumberbatch's titular sorcerer through the Multiverse as he tries to keep reality from falling apart. However, he won't be alone; newcomer Xochitl Gomez will be joining him as America Chavez. What makes her role so special is how she has the ability to travel between universes, a power which undoubtedly comes in handy in a film exploring the Multiverse. Rumors indicate that America's star-shaped portals will be her ticket out of her doomed reality and into the MCU-Prime, where she'll enlist Stephen Strange's help. ADVERTISEMENT Another important part of the character is that she is gay in the comics. Understandably, many fans have been afraid both Disney and Marvel Studios may try to avoid explicitly labeling or showing that side of the reality-hopping hero. Well, rest assured, that's not s...

Popular insider KC Walsh previously reported the film will have an "impressive body count" and will "use its Variants to great effect." Morbius Actor Admits He Doesn't Fully Understand His Own Marvel Character

Image
The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has made Sony feel very comfortable with the Spidey characters under its control. The studio's previous spin-off film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage , also performed well enough to grant it another sequel. Everything has been shaping up for the studio and its recent Marvel releases, despite the not-so-great critical feedback the Tom-Hardy-led franchise has gotten. Next up on Sony's slate is Morbius . The movie stars Jared Leto in the titular role as a man who accidentally becomes a vampire while looking for a cure for his degenerative blood disease. ADVERTISEMENT The character has classically been a villain of Spider-Man in the comics. However, there won’t be any webhead in sight for this outing. So who will he be facing off against? The answer to that is Matt Smith’s mystery character, Dr. Loxias Crown. In the comics, thanks to experiments done on Morbius, Crown becomes a Vampric being known as Hunger. He i...

Marvel Studios Reportedly Casting First Non-Binary MCU Character

Image
Marvel Studios continues to expand its cast of stories and characters in Phase 4 of the MCU, with part of that expansion coming in terms of diversified representation. In 2021 alone, Marvel brought its first movie with an Asian lead in Simu Liu's Shang-Chi, its first major genderfluid character in Tom Hiddleston's Loki, its first openly gay character in Eternals ' Phastos, and its first deaf actress with Alaqua Cox's Echo in Hawkeye . The franchise is far from done adding new kinds of representation to future projects in Phase 4 and beyond, especially with movies and TV shows currently in production. This includes two highly anticipated sequels to a couple of billion-dollar box-office hits from Phase 3 in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The Marvels . ADVERTISEMENT Later in Phase 4, fans will see Dominique Thorne's Ironheart for the first time as well, a new leading lady who will add to the Iron Man legacy started over a decade ag...

Emilia Clarke's Marvel Character Fights for Her Life In New Set Video

Image
Although Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion still doesn't have a timeframe for release, the series has the MCU fandom on edge thanks to its subject matter alone. Centered around returning stars like Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn while introducing MCU newcomers like Emilia Clarke, the mini-series remains appropriately shrouded in mystery. In the simplest of terms, Secret Invasion will explore a story in which the Skrulls have invaded Earth, meaning anybody in the MCU is in danger of having been replaced and duplicated. Nick Fury and General Talos will have to join forces for the first time since Spider-Man: Far From Home as they try to uncover who these Skrulls are and what they want with Fury's home planet. ADVERTISEMENT Once these Skrulls are revealed, this will undoubtedly lead to some intense physical battles, one of the MCU's signatures from the last 14 years of storytelling. While most of those fights are being kept under wrap...

Every Character Confirmed & Rumored to Appear

Spider-Man: No Way Home may have been the first movie to bring Multiversal mayhem to the MCU, but it may be nothing compared to what's coming in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness . Marvel Studios' first theatrical film of the year will advance a number of stories within the franchise, which far exceeds Benedict Cumberbatch's master magician alone. When the sequel was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, the only wild casting that fans found out about was Elizabeth Olsen's inclusion as Wanda Maximoff. Although her story was said to continue directly from the events of WandaVision , she would be the film's biggest new player alongside Doctor Strange, and they'd eventually have returning players Wong and Baron Mordo join the fray. ADVERTISEMENT After that, this movie's story and cast list turned into...pun totally intended...madness. The Multiverse became a reality after Tom Holland's Spider-Man...
