The majority of Marvel Studios' projects, to date, have been live-action. In fact,  What If...?  currently resides as the only animated series to join the roster. The Disney+ series followed Jeffery Wright's Watcher as he looked over various alternate timelines until it culminated in the cosmic being needing to form a group of heroes to take on a Multiversal threat in Infinity Ultron. When the first season streamed last year, the creatives behind the scenes weren't shy in revealing that a Season 2 was on the way and that they hoped to get it out by 2022. Since then, there hasn't been much in the way of new information. In February 2020, Marvel Studios proclaimed  "the universe is expanding"  ahead of their extension of original content on Disney+. The pandemic would put those plans on pause, but once 2021 rolled around, the Marvel Cinematic Universe would dominate social conversation for the full calendar year. Even during the theater drought, the success of shows like  WandaVision  and  The Falcon and the Winter Soldier  allowed for the MCU to remain at the top of Hollywood's hierarchy.  Marvel Studios will continue their streaming surge in 2022, as the franchise is set to debut shows for rookie characters like Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight and Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel. She may be fairly new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Brie Larson's Captain Marvel has already established herself as a main-event player. Carol Danvers has popped up in three Marvel Studios projects, both as a leading woman and a supporting player among Earth's Mightiest Heroes. With only two appearances in the MCU's Infinity Saga, Larson's trajectory moving forward is shaping up to be higher, further, and faster. Larson will star alongside Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani in 2023's  The Marvels , a sequel to 2019's  Captain Marvel  that unites her space-based hero with other enhanced individuals in the Captain Marvel family. Sony Pictures is in the midst of a theatrical Spider mania across the globe. Not only is  Spider-Man: No Way Home  breaking records worldwide, but the studio also has plans to re-release last year's  Venom: Let There Be Carnage  to further satiate Spidey fans. And that isn't all. Even though  Spider-Man: No Way Home 's box office numbers continue to make headlines, the film's success is no accident. Two decades' worth of Spider-Man stars in a single film during a pandemic required careful planning and coordination; and the man tasked with such a formidable undertaking was none other than Marvel's future Fantastic Four director, Jon Watts.
