James Gunn Addresses His Future With Marvel After Guardians of the Galaxy 3

Image
James Gunn has had quite the last few years. The filmmaker started out in the superhero genre with  Guardians of the Galaxy  and its sequel, projects which transformed obscure names into extremely popular characters. But then came the bump in the road: Gunn was fired from Marvel Studios thanks to a Twitter scandal; many thought that was going to be the end of his career. Thankfully, that wasn't the case. Not only did Disney eventually see the light, but Gunn was also able to create The Suicide Squad  because of it—a project which led to him creating one of the most popular shows of this year in John Cena's  Peacemaker . ADVERTISEMENT Next on his plate will be 2023's  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , marking his return to Marvel. Gunn has mentioned on multiple occasions that this outing, alongside  The Holiday Special , was going to be his last rodeo with the space-faring misfits. But are there any other characters from either Marvel or DC he...

Elizabeth Olsen Addresses Scarlet Witch's Mistakes Ahead of Doctor Strange 2

Image
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  continues Marvel Studios' ongoing trend of spotlighting two heroes in a solo sequel. Just as Steve Rogers shared the stage with Natasha Romanoff in  Captain America: The Winter Soldier  and how Thor Odinson starred opposite Bruce Banner in  Thor: Ragnarok , the titular Doctor Strange will split screentime in his second solo outing with the Scarlet Witch. Elizabeth Olsen saw unprecedented success in 2021's  WandaVision . The first Marvel Cinematic Universe streaming show broke social media on a weekly basis, laid the groundwork for future serialized Marvel Studios content, and totaled an impressive five Emmy Award nominations at last year's ceremony. ADVERTISEMENT That said, Marvel's confidence in Olsen as a leading woman dates far before the success of  WandaVision . Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019 that Olsen would be starring alongside Benedic...

Moon Knight Star Addresses Unseen Backstory of Steven & Donna (Exclusive)

Image
Moon Knight is finally out in the world for audiences to see. Reception to the show has been generally positive, and at the very least, it looks like Marvel Studios doesn’t have a flop on its hands. The show stars Oscar Isaac as both Steven Grant and Marc Spector, while Ethan Hawke plays Arthur Harrow, an unsettling cult leader. But those big names aren’t the only new faces. Somebody else who has joined the fray is Lucy Thackeray’s Donna. The character is the boss at the museum that Steven Grant works at, with the two of them seemingly having known each other for a while. ADVERTISEMENT Not much of their history is explored on screen, but there’s clearly something there. A dynamic is clearly in play, though it doesn’t seem to be too nice towards Isaac’s Steven Grant. The Direct sat down with the actress behind Donna and talked with her about the unseen backstory between the two. Donna and Steven’s Unseen Backstory Marvel In an exclusive interview, The ...

Doctor Strange 2 Producer Addresses Confusing What If...? Connection

Doctor Strange 2 's second trailer confirmed a year's worth of speculation with the vocal appearance of Patrick Stewart's Professor X. In addition, No Way Home 's ending also presented a fresh slate for Holland's young hero, thus leading to a big question mark about the character's in-universe future.  While No Way Home broke box office records and earned positive reviews from fans and critics, talks about Holland's future in the Marvel universe gained steam. Marvel Studios VFX Boss Addresses Shang-Chi Multiverse Theory

The Multiverse is now being pushed to the forefront in the MCU, but there are still projects that mainly focus on expanding the franchise's roster of heroes. One of them is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings . Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film follows the origin story of Simu Liu's titular martial artist as he confronts his dark past under the tutelage of his father, the Mandarin.  Shang-Chi introduced many notable figures that establish the character's place in the franchise's future, such as the mystical realm known as Ta Lo and the Ten Rings themselves. In addition, the film's mid-credits scene also served as the character's introduction to Earth's Mightiest Heroes.  ADVERTISEMENT Despite having its own contained narrative, Shang-Chi still managed to include subtle teases that could connect to the overarching Multiverse storyline. For example, Ta Lo is set in a different realm, with dialogue hinting that ...
