Benedict Cumberbatch Calls Out Spider-Man’s Mistake In No Way Home

Image
At the core of speculation from both before and after the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home is Doctor Strange's botched spell. While audiences know it led to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men, along with their slew of web-slinging baddies, coming into the MCU, the question remains as to whether other Multiversal events are to blame? Or whether Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is responsible for breaking the Multiverse. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is expected to answer these questions; and from what fans have seen from the trailers and TV spots, the leading theory is that the former Sorcerer Supreme will be held accountable for his recklessness in the Spidey threequel.  ADVERTISEMENT However, Doctor Strange's own Benedict Cumberbatch has a different take on the matter and a tease or two about what audiences can expect from his upcoming film.  Cumberbatch Defends Strange & Points to Spider-Man's M...

Marvel Director Calls Out DC Movie Scene as a 'Disgrace' to Egypt

After taking fans on adventures through various cultures and mythologies in the past, the MCU is about to take its first deep dive into the world of Ancient Egypt in the upcoming  Moon Knight  series. The Disney + project stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, a mercenary who, while suffering from a dissociative identity disorder, gets tangled up in a deadly mystery involving the Egyptian Gods.  The  Moon Knight  directing team is led by Mohamed Diab, who will be in the directing chair for four episodes, while Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead take on the other two. The series looks to be a globe-trotting affair with shooting having taken place all over the world in places such as Budapest, Jordan, and Atlanta.  ADVERTISEMENT And for lead director Diab, this project was all about getting that Egyptian feeling right. Being a native Egyptian, he has seen it done wrong so many times before, so getting it perfect this time around was essential. And speaking of h...

James Gunn Calls Out Steven Soderbergh Over Superhero Sex Criticism

Image
Superhero movies are easily some of the most-watched films in today’s day and age. Even with so many options for viewing in the genre, it’s no surprise that’s the case. The stories include different types of role models, intense action sequences and visual spectacles, a stunning variety of characters, and endless creativity. There is something, however, that most of them don’t have: sex scenes. This isn’t shocking, seeing as the films are generally meant to be catered to both adults and children at the same time. Recently, however, things have been changing. ADVERTISEMENT Most recently, Chloé Zhao’s Eternals included the very first MCU sex scene proper—something that surprised many people. In other parts of the superhero genre, 2016's  Deadpool had Wade Wilson doing the deed, this year's  Peacemaker got naughty, and 2017's  Wonder Woman got down and dirty. It’s been a slow change, one that legendary filmmaker Steven Soderbergh doesn'...

Shang Chi Star Calls for Fans to 'Please Stop' Asking Him About Next Marvel Movie

In September 2021, Marvel Studios delivered one of its best-reviewed and most highly-praised outings of the year in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , the franchise's first dip into the world of martial arts. Coming in with an impressive opening weekend exclusively in theaters and continuing to make its mark on Disney+, Simu Liu's titular hero appears set for an extended run in the MCU's future. In an unexpected twist, the mid-credits scene from Shang-Chi sent Liu's martial artist to an all-star meeting with Wong, Captain Marvel, and Dr. Bruce Banner as he learned that there's more to the Ten Rings than he ever knew. This inclusion in the new Avengers line-up along with plans for multiple Shang-Chi-based projects means it should only be a matter of time before Liu dons the red-and-black dragon-scaled suit once again. ADVERTISEMENT The biggest question that remains now is when that next appearance will come, especially with p...
