The Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe have set the standard for interconnected storytelling with major crossovers from the franchises' biggest heroes. Heavily involved in both franchises is director/producer James Gunn, who will soon have three Guardians of the Galaxy movies under his belt in the MCU.
