Ms. Marvel  is set to feature the MCU debut of Iman Vellani as the titular hero, marking the newcomer's first acting role. Before being cast as Kamala Khan, it was revealed that Vellani  was part of the Next Wave Committee at the 2019 Toronto Film Festival  "which was tasked with adding a special tag to films"  that  "would resonate with their peers,"  meaning that the actress is already making an effort to  "help diversify the industry." A good part of Ms. Marvel 's promotional push was mainly focused on Vellani's love for the Marvel universe, with its first teaser actually showing the actress' reaction to being cast for the role. Marvel's  Agents of SHIELD  populated the 2010s with seven seasons of adventures for Clark Gregg's Phil Coulson and company. While the series   has yet to be integrated into proper Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, the network television series' cult following cannot be understated. Fans clamor for characters like Chloe Bennet's Daisy Johnson and Iain De Caestecker's Leo Fitz to make an MCU leap similar to Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin and Charlie Cox's Daredevil. If content or characters from the series are to make their way into the MCU, it will likely be in a legacy reprisal. There is precedence for this too, as JK Simmons got a second run as J. Jonah Jameson in  Spider-Man: No Way Home  completely distinct from the short-tempered Daily Bugle editor in Sam Raimi's  Spider-Man  trilogy. Sony Courting Their Madame Web Marvel According to a new report from Deadline, actress Dakota Johnson, known for her roles in  Fifty Shades of Grey and The Social Network , is the front-runner for the lead of S.J. Clarkson's  Madame Web  and is currently being courted by Sony. Johnson became the front-runner after Sony cut down their list of actresses after an extensive two-month search. Considering Johnson's age, it's doubtful that she will be playing the original Madame Web in the comics, Cassandra Web, but Julia Carpenter, who is the current, younger Madame Web in the comics.
