No Way Home’s Massive Profit Totals Revealed

Image
Spider-Man: No Way Home's box office performance will go down as one of the most impressive theatrical runs in history. Previous Marvel Cinematic Universe releases from last year like  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  paved the way for Tom Holland's threequel to succeed, but even the most accurate forecasters couldn't have predicted the titanic revenue  No Way Home  generated. The film skyrocketed to an unprecedented $260 million domestic opening weekend, performing better than any theatrical release in history not named  Avengers: Endgame .  No Way Home  would sit comfortably atop the domestic weekend leaderboards for the following three weeks and would continue to rake in at least eight figures every weekend throughout January. ADVERTISEMENT While it is still showing in some cinemas across the country,  Spider-Man: No Way Home 's recent digital release has more or less concluded the film's theatrical run. Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man Gay Joke Removed on TV

Image
Spider-Man is undoubtedly the most famous character to have come out of Marvel Comics and, in many ways, Stan Lee's ultimate legacy. As such, the character has seen more adaptations than any other Marvel hero across cartoons, games, and blockbuster franchises - three of which just came together in epic fashion for  Spider-Man: No Way Home . Many fans' relationship with the web-slinging hero stems from Tobey Maguire's iconic two-decade-old portrayal of Spider-Man which spanned across a whole beloved trilogy. But since these films do come from a very different era, there are several major ways in which they differ from modern blockbusters. ADVERTISEMENT Not only is the VFX far behind what is seen on even television today, but some elements of the writing don't exactly match modern standards and culture, which has led to one joke being removed from a recent airing. Moon Knight DP Teases His Return In Upcoming MCU Project

Image
In keeping with the comics, Marvel Studios' Moon Knight on Disney+ hasn't shied away from highlighting the character of Marc Spector's struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder. In addition to serving as the avatar of the Egyptian mood god, Khonshu, Spector's other personality is that of Steven Grant; and from what fans have seen, the two are likely to discover a third personality before the show concludes. Throughout the show's first four episodes, fans and critics alike have praised Oscar Isaac's performances as the two distinct personalities and those moments where the two talk to one another.  ADVERTISEMENT And, while Oscar Isaac deserves recognition for his plural portrayals, credit is also due to those behind the camera tasked with bringing Moon Knight 's complex story to the screen; and apparently, Marvel Studios is doing just that.  Moon Knight Cinematographer's Future Plans in the MCU Marvel In talking with ...

Marvel Reveals Doctor Strange 2's MacGuffin In New Trailer

Image
Despite being just two weeks away, the plot of  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  remains vastly mysterious. Fans know the film will feature Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero teaming up with Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Xochitil Gomez's America Chavez as they navigate the Multiverse, but the specificities of the dangers that arise are still up in the air. Olsen's Scarlet Witch has been rumored to walk the line between good and evil, while trailer footage has spotlighted the tentacled titan Gargantos as a Kaiju that the heroes will have to do battle with. From there, speculation takes over. How will Patrick Stewart's Illuminati factor in? Is there a Captain Marvel Variant flying around? What does Kang the Conqueror think of all this? ADVERTISEMENT Uncertainty stays at the forefront of  Doctor Strange 2 , but new footage has begun to steer fans in the right direction. Doctor Strange 2's Book of Vishanti Are you...

Moon Knight Episode 5 Runtime Revealed In Advance

Image
Marvel Studios' Moon Knight quickly approaches the end of its wild run on Disney+, putting Oscar Isaac's Marc Spector into the MCU spotlight for the first time in Phase 4. Each new episode has featured insane reveals at every turn, with Episode 4 going so far as to include the physical manifestation of an Egyptian goddess inside Marc's head after his interaction with Steven Grant. Through the first four weeks, fans have gotten their usual round of longer MCU Disney+ episodes, as has been the case with most of Phase 4's entries outside of WandaVision and the animated What If...? . Before Moon Knight premiered, fans learned that the first four episodes were anywhere from 45 to 51 minutes in length without credits, which proved to be accurate when the show arrived. ADVERTISEMENT Each Disney+ show in total brings anywhere from five to six hours of new content to the MCU, meaning that Episodes 5 and 6 should be in the same range as their pr...

Moon Knight Producer Says Episodes 5 & 6 Will 'Blow Your Mind'

Image
While Marvel Studios is a couple of weeks away from returning to the big screen, the MCU has plenty of thrilling action coming in its first Disney+ series of 2022 - Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight . Bringing the MCU's first new character to lead the way in his own streaming series, this story is already making its mark with MCU fans and with the character's influence on other media. When media members first reviewed the show ahead of its March 30 debut, the first four episodes were sent out for those lucky few. Now, everybody in the Marvel fandom is on an even playing field with Episodes 5 and 6 still over the horizon. This has all led to heavy anticipation building for the end of Marc Spector's first solo adventure. ADVERTISEMENT Even with plenty of shocking reveals over the last four weeks, rumors and reports have teased an ending in the last two episodes that will blow fans' minds, although there is no way to tell how that will happen. Love and Thunder Trailer Viewership Ranks 5th-Best In the MCU

Image
After what felt like an eternally long wait, Marvel Studios is officially underway with the promotional tour for this summer's Thor: Love and Thunder . This sequel now has the shortest promo window in MCU history by a fairly wide margin, with fans theorizing about what was taking so long for the first look at the film to come to the public. Once the first trailer came online on Monday, April 18, the story behind Love and Thunder became clearer as Chris Hemsworth's Thor takes on his first solo story after Avengers: Endgame . With shots of Star-Lord and the Guardians of the Galaxy, along with the first full look at Natalie Portman as the Mighty Thor, there is certainly plenty to look forward to with the MCU's second movie in 2022. ADVERTISEMENT Marvel Studios has built an incredible reputation with its trailer release strategy that each new tease beings in viewership numbers unrivaled by almost every other franchise in the game. No Way Home Easter Egg

Image
Marvel Studios is still riding off the highs of Spider-Man: No Way Home , which became the sixth highest grossing movie in history and changed the game for the superhero genre. Now, even with Doctor Strange 2  looming over the horizon for the MCU, Marvel fans have their attention on July's Thor: Love and Thunder , whose promotional tour just showed its first signs of life. Chris Hemsworth's fourth solo movie just delivered its first trailer, and even though it broke the record for shortest promotional tour in MCU history, the footage made its mark on fans quickly. The 89 seconds of material showcased just how wild Thor's first story in a post- Avengers: Endgame world will be, shining a light on both the Earthly and cosmic themes pushing the MCU forward. ADVERTISEMENT Thor: Love and Thunder will tie in heavily to its surrounding MCU counterparts, most notably including Endgame and next year's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 . The sequel...

New Thor 4 Plot Synopsis Teases Christian Bale’s Villainous Role

Image
After much anticipation, the teaser for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor: Love and Thunder is finally here. The footage showed off Thor in his new duds, the Guardians back in action, Jane Foster’s Thor, and King Valkyrie. There was one big missing element, however: Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. The big bad of the movie was nowhere to be found, nor any antagonist at all. Some of his handiwork may have made it in, but the Necrosword-wielding foe didn’t even lend as much as a line of dialogue to the trailer. The only proper look that the fans have gotten of the villain to this day comes from some older set photos and newer glimpses of Love and Thunder  merchandise. ADVERTISEMENT While the teaser trailer may not have had any new Gorr content, at least the official synopsis of the project itself does. In this case, it's teased that the villain's motives will be fairly aligned with what they are in the source material.  Thor 4 Villain Teased in New Sy...

Chris Hemsworth Reacts to Thor 4 Trailer With a Promise to the Fans

Image
The God of Thunder has returned! After weeks of anticipation from fans, the first teaser for Thor: Love and Thunder has finally arrived. Due to the return of Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, as well as the film's title, there was little doubt that Thor 4 would be a wild ride. Now, fans have an idea of what Chris Hemsworth's post- Avengers:  Endgame tale has in store.  Even though the footage was only a teaser's length, its 90 seconds were jam-packed with reveals and first looks. Those included the debuts of Jane Foster's Mighty Thor and Russell Crowe's Zeus as well as the returns of the Guardians of the Galaxy and Tessa Thompson's King Valkyrie. ADVERTISEMENT To mark the start of Love and Thunder 's marketing campaign, Thor's own Chris Hemsworth and other MCU stars have taken to social media to share their own reactions.  Chris Hemsworth Responds to Thor: Love and Thunder Teaser Marvel To celebrate the release o...

No Way Trailer Shows Ned Exploring Tobey & Andrew's Universes

Image
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home remains as popular as ever after its physical and digital home release, largely thanks to its ties to both previous live-action wall-crawler universes. With Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and a handful of their villains crossing over into the MCU, No Way Home became arguably the biggest solo hero crossover event Marvel's ever delivered. While the Multiversal elements of No Way Home were certainly the headliners, Peter Parker's close friendships with Ned Leeds and MJ Watson helped the core hero on his journey to fully become Spider-Man. Ned even found himself discovering his newfound abilities with magic after the trio stole Doctor Strange's Sling Ring, leading to the film's third act bringing in Maguire and Garfield. ADVERTISEMENT Ned's skills with the Sling Ring added a new dynamic to his character in his fifth MCU movie as fans saw the excitement he felt from helping ...

How Marvel Replaced America Chavez In Spider-Man: No Way Home

Image
Marvel fans are currently gearing up for the next massive MCU crossover event in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness , which will bring other powerful heroes into play like Wanda Maximoff and America Chavez. This comes as the next theatrical movie from Marvel Studios after 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home , the MCU's next line-up in its Multiversal story.  Although No Way Home ended up being the movie that opened the Multiverse for the first time, it was initially supposed to come to theaters after Doctor Strange 2 . After the two films switched places in the MCU timeline, Marvel was forced to make some major changes to No Way Home 's story so that it could still include the Multiversal villains and heroes that drove its plot. ADVERTISEMENT One of the biggest changes came with removing America Chavez, who was initially supposed to make an appearance alongside the web-slinger after being introduced to the Master of the Mystic Arts. Marvel Actor Will Poulter Doesn't Recommend His MCU Training Regimen

Image
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to finally introduce Adam Warlock, with the character being portrayed by Will Poulter. While exact plot details of Vol. 3 are still being kept under wraps, Poulter's inclusion as Adam Warlock clearly indicates that it will continue the tease at the end of Vol. 2 where the Sovereign look to unleash the character against the Guardians for revenge. This essentially hints at the fact that the MCU newcomer will be involved in heavy action sequences in the upcoming project, meaning that intense Marvel training is needed. The franchise is no stranger to vigorous training sessions, as more stars have been open about their preparation for their superhero roles, such as Shang-Chi's Simu Liu and Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson.  ADVERTISEMENT Now, as the film is in the midst of production, a new interview has shed some light on Poulter's preparation for the role. Did Sony Just Confirm Tony Stark's Existence In the Venom Movie Universe?

Image
For comic book movie fans, recent months have been both the best of times and the worst of times. Spider-Man: No Way Home was a gift in that it not only completed Tom Holland's first trilogy but also united all three of cinema's live-action Spideys on the big screen. But then, as a chaser to Marvel and Sony's Multiversal web-slinging epic - and as a preview of what Sony has planned for its adjacent Venom Universe - the latter studio presented Marvel fans with  Morbius . Starring Jared Leto as the good-hearted doctor turned vampire, Morbius finally made its theatrical debut on April Fools' Day. While it was intended to be Sony's next film in its growing universe, Morbius largely disappointed audiences and drastically lowered expectations for the studio's future plans. ADVERTISEMENT While both fans and critics alike have their grievances with  Morbius ' editing, story, and some of its performances, one of the biggest objectio...

Why Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Cut Out Rocket's Origin Story

Image
In recent years, Marvel has proactively taken bigger steps to adapt its various IPs into quality blockbuster level games; not just the lackluster mobile games they've been known for. Some of these projects blossom into critical hits like Insomniac Games'  Spider-Man , while others devolve into disappointing messes like Square Enix's  Avengers.  Another one of its recent games, and one of the best from a critical standpoint, is  Guardians of the Galaxy . The announcement for the game came out of left field last year. As surprising as the reveal itself was, even more shocking was how quickly it was released afterward. Many projects get announced years before they ever see the light of day, but in this case, it was only months. ADVERTISEMENT The game saw Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot trying to take down the Universal Church of Truth, which had begun successfully brainwashing a good majority of the galaxy. The story included many sur...

No Way Home? Alfred Molina Responds

Image
In the pantheon of Marvel villains to appear on screen, Alfred Molina's Doc Ock has long been among the best due to his role in 2004's Spider-Man 2 . Seventeen years later, the ambitious, multi-limbed scientist was the first of Sony's former Spidey villains to appear on the big screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home ; but this time, Molina's Ock wasn't just redeemed but cured.  While No Way Home succeeded in bringing all three Spider-Man franchises together, as well as providing some closure, fans are already asking for more. In addition to the push for Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 4 , the fan demand for Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man 3  has become a bit of a movement. ADVERTISEMENT If Sony and/or Marvel choose to revive these former web-slingers once more, the question is whether their signature villains will return as well; and if so, can audiences also expect more Norman Osborn or Molina's Doctor Otto Octavius?  Al...

Will Hawkeye’s Swordsman Return to the MCU? Actor Shares Brief Response

Image
One of last year’s most festive shows was, without a doubt, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye . The series marked the first holiday story since Iron Man 3 and introduced Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop to the world. Many new characters came into play as well, including Vera Farmiga’s Eleanor Bishop, and Alaqua Cox’s Echo - even Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin. Another big figure from the comics brought to the silver screen was Tony Dalton’s Jack Duquesne. In the comics, Duquesne, otherwise known as the Swordsman, is a villain turned hero who previously trained Clint Barton as he grew up in the circus. While the two eventually butted heads more than once, Hawkeye’s mentor actually went on to become a temporary Avenger. ADVERTISEMENT However, the version of the character that audiences saw in the Disney+ project was certainly not what he is in the comics. In fact, the writers used the knowledge to pose him as a red herring. But what are the chances that Dalto...
