Hawkeye Season 2 In Doubt Following Marvel Awards Update

Image
The final Marvel Studios series to hit Disney+ in 2021 was  Hawkeye . The show saw the introduction of Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop as she teamed up with Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton to help clean up his Ronin mess post- Avengers: Endgame . In the end, they were successful—at least, mostly. The last fans saw of the two of them was a happy and calm moment, one that saw Bishop get the mantle of Hawkeye. So what comes next for those characters? Their situation seems like it could easily be the start of many more stories to come, with multiple seasons of bow-and-arrow madness available for development. ADVERTISEMENT Sadly, there hasn't been any official word on a second season. The only two Disney+ projects that have received a second season order thus far are  Loki  and  What If...? . While all hope for a continuation of Hawkeye 's isn't lost, a recent move by Marvel Studios has cast some significant doubt on the potential future.  Co...

New Hawkeye Video Shows Yelena's Thanos Snap VFX

2021 was a banner year for the MCU, and  Hawkeye was the grand finale such a shift in strategy deserved. The bow-wielding epic marked the fifth streaming series for Marvel Studios, something the company kicked off a year ago with  WandaVision . Serving as a celebration to one of the MCU's longest-tenured Avengers,  Hawkeye  saw Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton take on a protégé, meet the kingpin of New York crime, and save Christmas to boot.  The series was beloved by fans of the character, as for the first time they got to see Hawkeye on his own and in his element. Although he wasn't truly alone. Haliee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop stole the show, joining in on the adventure alongside Renner's Marvel mainstay.  ADVERTISEMENT And the young blood did not stop there. Florence Pugh showed up for her second appearance in the MCU as Yelena Belova. Belova was first introduced in last year's  Black Widow  and arrived in  Hawkeye  with the mission...

Starring Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez, Marvel Studios announced Echo for Disney's streaming service during 2021's Disney+ Day ahead of the character's debut in Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld's Hawkeye . In the comics, and now in MCU canon, Maya Lopez is a street-level Marvel character with a Native American heritage and ties to Kingpin. She also happens to be a deaf amputee. In Hawkeye , Maya showcased her ability to mimic physical fighting styles; she was also last seen with a gun pointed at Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, followed by the sound of a gunshot.  ADVERTISEMENT Whether she will appear in another MCU project ahead of her own, and what Marvel has planned for her solo story remains to be seen. However, who will be appearing alongside Maya in her upcoming series is just now coming to light. Graham Greene Joins the Cast of Marvel's Echo Antlers The Direct can exclusively report that veteran actor Graham Greene, known f...

Marvel Celebrates Jeremy Renner & Hailee Steinfeld With New Hawkeye Figures

Image
Hasbro's Marvel Legends action figure line continues to be popular with fans and collectors alike, with its practical articulation and deep character selection. The line, of course, encompasses several heroes, villains and supporting cast members from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The most recent MCU figures released by Hasbro comprised characters from  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  and featured Wong, America Chavez, and the good doctor himself. Additionally, figures based upon  Hawkeye  stood as the only 2021 MCU project to not have a dedicated Marvel Legends release. On the broader Disney+ side of the MCU, Legends actually hasn't put out any figures from the streaming series since Summer, 2021's wave based on  What If...?  Rumors have persisted of a new series of figures based on the characters from Marvel Studios' shows on Disney+, but nothing has gone up for pre-order until now. Hawkeye VFX Supervisor Reveals Major Change to Avengers' Battle Depiction

Image
Building from all four Avengers movies and other MCU team-ups, Marvel Studios ended 2021 with Jeremy Renner's first solo series, Hawkeye , on Disney+ in November and December. Kicking things off from the Battle of New York and exploring Renner's time long after leaving the Avengers following  Avengers: Endgame , this show covered nearly two decades of adventures in the MCU timeline. Almost fittingly, the first scene of the series took fans on a trip down memory lane by focusing on Clint Barton's first team-up with the Avengers in the Battle of New York. Although it was largely used to set up Kate Bishop's origin story for becoming the newest MCU hero, the Avengers' first time assembling helped set the tone for everything Hawkeye would add to the narrative. ADVERTISEMENT Hawkeye This battle held more than its fair share of fun moments for fans, from the Hulk cameo that everybody missed to a deleted scene of Kingpin reminiscing on the e...

Hawkeye VFX Supervisor Reveals Hulk Cameo That We All Missed (Exclusive)

Marvel Studios closed off 2021 with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye on Disney+, finally giving a solo project to the only member of the original six Avengers who didn't yet have one. Tying back to the events of The Avengers , Avengers: Endgame , and several other classic MCU stories, the Hawkeye series found a way to pay tribute to the character's past while setting up a bright future as well. While the series largely served as Clint Barton's first solo story, these six episodes also gave Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop her first chance to shine in the MCU spotlight. ADVERTISEMENT Due to both heroes' stories being told simultaneously, Marvel had an even bigger opportunity than usual for Easter eggs to be included throughout the series. From multiple references to Paul Rudd's Ant-Man to early teases for Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, Hawkeye certainly made the most of Marvel's material from the big screen and comics alike. ...

Hawkeye Deleted Scene Shows More of Avengers Tower & Kate's Dad

Image
Marvel Studios finished off its 2021 slate on Disney+ with Jeremy Renner's original Avenger in Hawkeye , which debuted to plenty of success. After kicking off its story with a flashback to Avengers Tower during the Battle of New York, the action only continued to pick up for Clint Barton and Kate Bishop with every twist and turn throughout its six episodes. On top of giving Clint Barton his long-awaited first solo story, Hawkeye set the stage for Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop to start her path as a key player in the MCU's future. Her origin story came during one of Barton's first true battles alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes, all leading to Kate taking on the biggest challenges of her life and learning what it means to really be an Avenger. ADVERTISEMENT Part of Kate's origin story that made an impact with fans right from the start was her family dynamic, which changed for good with the presumed death of her father, Derek, dur...

Florence Pugh's Unused Hawkeye Costume Features a Black Widow Logo (Photos)

2021 was a fantastic year for Marvel Studios. Not only did it bring a massive amount of content, but it expanded the universe and introduced countless new faces to the MCU. WandaVision started Monica Rambaue’s journey. Loki gave fans a glimpse at Kang the Conqueror. What If…? showed everyone The Watcher. Hawkeye brought Kate Bishop into the equation— but that’s not even everybody. In fact, it doesn’t include the person who is almost certainly the clear fan-favorite: Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. Pugh’s Black Widow was introduced in Scarlet Johansson’s solo film last July, and ever since, viewers have fallen in love with her. While tragic, the actress’ comedic timing and personality are perfect, which brings just the right amount of levity to her harrowing origins. ADVERTISEMENT Her most recent appearance was in Hawkeye , where she meets Hailee Steinfeld’s, Kate Bishop. The moment the two first shared the screen, sparks were flying. Their dynamic is a...

MCU Boss Reveals Why Marvel Actually Brought Back Kingpin

Image
Hawkeye is filled with many interesting characters, and one of them is Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin from Netflix's Daredevil series. D'Onofrio's return has been the subject of many rumors leading to Hawkeye' s debut, and it was ultimately confirmed at the tail-end of the show's fifth episode. In the series, the crime boss was revealed as the big bad pulling the strings behind the Tracksuit Mafia while also diving deep into his emotional connection to Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez.  Before Hawkeye , D'Onofrio portrayed Fisk in the  Daredevil  series for three seasons from 2015 to 2018. Given that the show's ties to the MCU is one of the burning questions of fans, D'Onofrio's potential debut in the universe of Earth's Mightiest Heroes has been the subject of debate.  ADVERTISEMENT However, despite D'Onofrio having cemented the fact that his Kingpin in Hawkeye  is the same one from the Netfl...

Marvel Finally Changes Hawkeye Art to Include Hailee Steinfeld

Image
2021 was the year of brand new heroes. First, WandaVision came along and introduced the world to Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau before The   Falcon and the Winter Soldier paved the way for a new Falcon in Joaquin Torres. Loki brought both Kid Loki and Sylvie into the picture, and Black Widow invited Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova along for the ride. It wasn’t until Hawkeye , however, that the biggest of the bunch landed: Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. The final MCU series of the year showed the new hero getting into a mess revolving around a murder mystery and Clint Barton’s former Ronin costume. The result was a fun, action-filled adventure that saw Jeremy Renner’s original Avenger team up with the newbie to save Christmas—or so to speak. ADVERTISEMENT Steinfeld’s new character is a bigger deal than most because she goes on to be one of the key members of the Young Avengers, a team the MCU is no doubt building its way towards. Now, Marvel Studios D...

Hailee Steinfeld's Unused Hawkeye Costume Revealed (Photo)

Marvel Studios wrapped up its 2021 streaming run with Disney+'s Hawkeye , a series centered around Jeremy Renner's titular, original Avenger alongside newcomer archer Kate Bishop, played by Hailee Steinfeld. The six-episode-long show not only set up Steinfeld for the long run as the MCU's next resident archer but also added fuel to the canonicity fire by introducing Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin from Netflix's Daredevil into the fold. Hawkeye was heavily inspired by the 2012 comic run of the same name, headed by writer Matt Fraction. Visuals and tidbits from the comics, from the title and end sequences to the inclusion of Lucky the Pizza Dog, were incorporated into the series. ADVERTISEMENT When it came to how the show's characters made their way from the page to the screen, it was Steinfeld's Kate Bishop that arguably took the spotlight. A Young Avenger in her own right, setting her up for success was crucial—including stag...

Kingpin Reacts to Avengers' Battle of New York In Hawkeye Deleted Scene

Image
Hawkeye Season 1 has come to a close, and there has been no word as to if the series will continue with a second outing. The bow-wielding streaming series introduced the world to future MCU stalwart Kate Bishop (portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld), while also serving as a way of honoring Jeremy Renner's OG Avenger Clint Barton. Throughout the project's six episodes, fans came across both new and returning faces, including Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin.  D'Onofrio returning to the role of Wilson Fisk was a big deal, as it meant yet another of the Netflix Marvel characters has made the jump into the MCU proper. Fisk served as the main antagonist in Netflix's  Daredevil  series, as the big guy butted heads with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock.  ADVERTISEMENT Now, despite Kingpin only appearing in the last couple episodes of  Hawkeye,  his shadow loomed large over the series as he worked behind the scenes of the Tracksuit Mafia. This small on-sc...

Kingpin's Deleted Hawkeye Scene Revealed (Photos)

Hawkeye  closed out what was a packed year for the MCU, putting Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton in the spotlight for the first time while also introducing a large selection of new characters to the franchise. Two of the fresh faces were Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, and Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez, characters who opposed Clint for a majority of the show. The series showed viewers that Maya and Fisk had a long relationship with each other, tracing all the way back to when she was still a child. The show's third episode opened with multiple scenes of a young Maya, one of which featured her being picked up from a karate class by someone she called "Uncle," who turns out to be Fisk. ADVERTISEMENT Maya continued to work for Fisk throughout the years, and eventually became the leader of the Tracksuit Mafia. The gang continuously targets Clint throughout the show because Maya's father was killed by Ronin, a r...
