Seventeen years later, the ambitious, multi-limbed scientist was the first of Sony's former Spidey villains to appear on the big screen in Spider-Man: No Way Home ; but this time, Molina's Ock wasn't just redeemed but cured.  While No Way Home succeeded in bringing all three Spider-Man franchises together, as well as providing some closure, fans are already asking for more. Marvel Studios is getting ready to dive into slightly more adult content than what it’s been known for in the past, starting various conversations amongst fans as the MCU evolves. As the franchise moves to darker material like the recently released Moon Knight , on top of the recent addition of six Marvel Netflix shows, there are signs pointing to Marvel Studios embracing a more adult nature. It seems inevitable that this will be the case even outside of necessary adult themes in projects like Deadpool 3 , even though the PG-13 rated entries will also move in that direction. Spider-Man: No Way Home  has left theaters, but chatter about the blockbuster franchise has yet to slow down. As great as the MCU is, there are other films out there based on Marvel heroes. The most recent example is  Venom: Let There Be Carnage , which did fairly well at the box office and led to a third entry being greenlit. That project is just one in what will be a much wider connected world separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Sony's Spider-Man Universe to be precise. It was rumored that Marvel Studios was eying Jewish actors Daveed Diggs and Nick Kroll for the role of Marc Spector in Moon Knight . But it was later revealed that Oscar Isaac would be playing the Jewish superhero. A controversy arose, as fans took issue with Isaac only having a tangible connection to Judaism through his father, but even Isaac said he was raised in a "very Christian" household due to that same father. Spider-Man: No Way Home  ended in a way no one would have guessed. By the time the credits rolled, not a single soul in the MCU knew who Peter Parker was. That's quite the commitment storytelling-wise, especially in such a large, interconnected world. After all, the film literally started with the entire world knowing that Peter was the webhead. There were news reports, papers, online blogs, social media posts about Peter Parker being Spider-Man—so what happens to all of that? Will things in the universe physically disappear? She-Hulk  is set to introduce a brand new hero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, marking the debut of Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters. The upcoming series is part of the franchise's small screen slate on Disney+, as it follows the origin story of Walters as she transitions into a full-fledged superhero. Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures continue to make their mark on the entertainment industry thanks to Spider-Man: No Way Home 's record-breaking theatrical run. Coming up on a full month since the threequel debuted worldwide, the film is now encroaching on the top five box office returns of all time while being one of the best-reviewed films in recent memory. Now that the MCU’s slate of projects for 2021 is over after the Spider-Man threequel, the team is prepping for potentially a dozen new entries in 2022 as it looks to the distant future as well.
