Watch: Willem Dafoe Frightens Tom Holland on Set of Spider-Man: No Way Home

Image
Spider-Man: No Way Home saw the return of more than half a dozen characters from past Spidey blockbusters, including Willem Dafoe as the original Green Goblin from 2002's Spider-Man . After Tom Holland battled Michael Keaton's Vulture and Jake Gyllenhaal's Mysterio in his first two outings, Dafoe brought a new level of fear for the young hero in his third MCU solo appearance. The man behind the Green Goblin made his mark on the world of superhero movies with No Way Home , setting the record for the longest Marvel career in history, alongside his Spidey co-star Tobey Maguire. Even more impressive was that Dafoe took the opportunity to deliver an even more revered performance this time around, especially after ditching the mask he wore for his first movie 20 years ago. ADVERTISEMENT That performance largely came through alongside Holland, as the MCU's Spidey and the Goblin engaged in some of the most brutal physical battles seen in any liv...

Tom Holland Wants Time Off Before Likely MCU Return

Image
Tom Holland is the most recent MCU cast member to have a solo trilogy within the interconnected franchise.  Spider-Man: No Way Home  immediately became a box office success in December 2021 when it hit theaters, and it is still going strong two months later. The film recently surpassed  Avatar  to become the third-highest grossing movie domestically of all time. No Way Home  featured the return of many actors that appeared in past  Spider-Man  movies outside of the MCU. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield both suited up as web-slingers for the first time in years, and they were joined by villains of their own respective franchises, such as Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx as Electro. ADVERTISEMENT Some fans claimed that Holland's performance in  No Way Home  was the best of his career and immediately began campaigning for him to return in a fourth solo film. The 25-year-old actor has teetered back and forth when it comes to comments about c...

Tom Holland Teases Future Daredevil & Spider-Man Team-Up

Image
Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home has been a hot topic amongst the MCU fandom for the better part of two years, and it has remained so since its December 2021 debut. Part of what kept that conversation going so intensely was the rumors pointing to more than a dozen potentially game-changing cameos. From Charlie Cox's Daredevil to Tom Hardy's Venom, Tom Holland's third solo outing didn't slow down for a moment. Less than 15 minutes into the runtime, Cox made his presence felt as he brought Daredevil into the MCU-proper. Even with only 70 seconds of screen time in total, none of it featuring Daredevil's superhero costume, the movie's "really good lawyer" instantly made the scene a fan-favorite moment in No Way Home . ADVERTISEMENT Now that Matt Murdock has officially crossed over from the Netflix shows, the big question is when exactly Cox will make his return, especially considering his chemistry with Tom Ho...

Tom Holland Clarifies Spider-Man Retirement Comments

Image
Shortly after the release of Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures'  Spider-Man: No Way Home , Tom Holland made several comments alluding to his time as Peter Parker coming to an end. Holland admitted in an interview that he should maybe move on from the role of Peter Parker so that someone else could play Spider-Man, specifically suggesting the Miles Morales character. However, over recent weeks, it has become apparent that Holland's conflicting comments about returning to the role is him negotiating through the media. This is a tactic often used to influence new deals or contracts by openly suggesting plans not to renew them, resulting in the other party sweetening the pot, which could mean a higher pay for Holland. Tom Holland Says Another Spider-Men Team-Up Could Happen

Although  Spider-Man: No Way Home  marked a new high for the character, bringing back actors from franchises past and raking in billions of dollars, the hero's cinematic future is uncertain at this point. After three films in the MCU, actor Tom Holland has yet to sign a contract to return as the character, even commenting outright about the unclear future for his  Spider-Man. Much like Holland's future as the super-powered wall-crawler, the prospects of other actors returning to the role are also up in the air. However, Andrew Garfield recently spoke out about his willingness to return as the character, noting how much he enjoyed the dynamic between the three Spider-Men in  No Way Home . More specifically, Garfield even commented on the idea of a crossover with the  Venom  series, calling it "a cool idea." Spider-Man: No Way Home marked the end of Tom Holland's MCU trilogy, but reports suggest that his character's journey is far from over. The threequel brought back villains and heroes from past Spider-Man films, giving fans plenty of nostalgia as three generations of web-slingers teamed up for an unforgettable adventure. In addition, No Way Home 's ending also presented a fresh slate for Holland's young hero, thus leading to a big question mark about the character's in-universe future.  While No Way Home broke box office records and earned positive reviews from fans and critics, talks about Holland's future in the Marvel universe gained steam. Tom Holland Casts More Doubt on His Spider-Man Future

Image
Tom Holland's  Spider-Man: No Way Home  brought plenty of status quo changes upon its release. The Multiverse is real, Matt Murdock is back in action, Marisa Tomei's Aunt May is dead, and somehow, more importantly, everyone in the universe has forgotten Peter Parker exists. Spider-Man is lonelier than lonely, which won't be easy going forward. But what is next? The story attempts to leave the character in somewhat of a hopeful place despite his grim circumstances. He's started a new life, and that simplified existence, for better or worse, is going to allow Peter to focus completely on his duties as New York City's friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. ADVERTISEMENT Oddly enough, despite there clearly being more stories to tell about Holland's Peter Parker, nothing is set in stone yet—besides Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige himself confirming that a fourth entry in the franchise is in development. But apparently, according to Hol...
