Doctor Strange 2's Benedict Wong Reveals His X-Men Crossover Hope

Image
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is just over a week away, and fans are on the edge of their seats with anticipation. The upcoming Marvel Studios project is set to take a deep dive into the many realities that make up existence. Alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero, Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong's Sorcerer, and Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez will be joining the fray. Wong has seen an expanded role in the MCU recently. As of  Spider-Man: No Way Home , the character was revealed to be the Sorcerer Supreme—a role lost to Stephen Strange thanks to being blipped. ADVERTISEMENT On top of saving existence in the upcoming film, the sorcerer has, and will likely be, a busy man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  he can be seen overseeing Abomination, and if rumors are true, he'll be popping up for a notable role in  She-Hulk . So who would the actor want to int...

Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield Announces He’s Taking a Break From Movies

Image
Spider-Man: No Way Home may have cracked open the Marvel Multiverse; but in this reality, Andrew Garfield has been at the center due to his roles in The Eyes of Tammy Faye , Tick, Tick... Boom! , and, of course,  Spider-Man: No Way Home . Following the latter film's release, the fan demand to revive The Amazing Spider-Man franchise dominated social media and was even acknowledged by Sony's social team.   Fans aren't the only ones eager for more of Garfield's web-slinger. The MCU's current Spider-Man, Tom Holland, has also given his "full support." The question, however, was whether both Sony and Garfield were interested.  ADVERTISEMENT When asked about his potential return, The Amazing Spider-Man star claimed that there were "No plans, that's the truth," while also acknowledging the fact that no one would believe him after his viral denials of being in  No Way Home .  However, following Sony's lack of ...

Tom Hiddleston Teases 'Chaotic' Loki In Season 2

Image
In summer 2021, Marvel Studios' Loki became the first Disney+ series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be confirmed for a second full season after Season 1 came to an end. Tom Hiddleston took his God of Mischief into a chaotic adventure from start to finish in his first solo project, and even after more than a decade of service, he's far from finished with the role. Rumors pointed to Loki making some kind of appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after Season 1 finished, with the adopted Asgardian potentially in for pure chaos as the Multiverse comes apart at the seams. In the real world, Season 2 of Loki will begin filming in Hiddleston's home of London this summer, sending the anti-hero back with the TVA to fix the mess he and Sylvie helped start. ADVERTISEMENT Outside of returning characters like Sophia Di Martino's Sylvie and Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Judge Renslayer, Loki Season 2 remains largely a mystery wi...

Marvel's Blade Movie Reboot Receives 'Perfect' Working Title

Image
Marvel Studios has made two mass project announcements since initially revealing Phase 4 at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019. The first came at 2020's Disney Investor Day, and the second followed on 2021's Disney+ Day, but even across those events, details remain vague on one film from the initial Phase 4 reveal:  Blade . Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige concluded his 2019 Comic-Con presentation in dramatic fashion as he brought out Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali to announce him as the star of the MCU's  Blade , a moment that shocked everyone. ADVERTISEMENT But as that moment nears its third anniversary, there appears to have been minimal movement, at least publicly, regarding the production of  Blade . The reboot has picked up a few cast members, founds its head writer in Stacy Osei-Kuffour, and brought on Bassam Tariq to direct, and yet there is still no sign of a release date. Even with no public progress on the production of hi...

Not only will the magical blockbuster see the return of Doctor Strange, Wong, and Scarlet Witch, but it will also feature the debut of Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez, the latest Young Avenger to be introduced in the MCU in Phase 4. 15-year-old Marvel newcomer Xochitl Gomez will make her first appearance as America Chavez in  Multiverse of Madness . The young hero's powers not only include superhuman strength, speed, and durability but also the ability to traverse the Multiverse - a talent that will prove to be a great asset to Doctor Strange and his team. ADVERTISEMENT America Chavez is both a lesbian and of Latin-American origin, two character traits that will carry over to her live-action portrayal. Unfortunately, due to restrictions on releases in certain regions, Chavez's LGBTQIA+ status and mention of her "two moms" has led to  Multiverse of Madness  being ban...

Benedict Cumberbatch Defends Doctor Strange 2 Amid LGBTQ Ban

Image
The upcoming  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is a sequel full of both second steps and new beginnings. The film will continue the long-running stories of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange and Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, while also launching fan-favorite rookie characters like Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. Since the promotional campaign for  Doctor Strange 2  kicked off in December 2021, America Chavez has been at the forefront alongside the film's leading stars. While Chavez is a Marvel Cinematic Universe freshman, she has been prominently featured on Marvel Comics pages over the past decade. ADVERTISEMENT In the comics, Chavez possesses the unique ability to travel through the Multiverse via her star portals. This defining power is set to translate to the big screen, as director Sam Raimi previously revealed that Strange will have  "to learn from a kid"  how to navigate the concept he knows frightenin...

No Way Home’s Massive Profit Totals Revealed

Image
Spider-Man: No Way Home's box office performance will go down as one of the most impressive theatrical runs in history. Previous Marvel Cinematic Universe releases from last year like  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  paved the way for Tom Holland's threequel to succeed, but even the most accurate forecasters couldn't have predicted the titanic revenue  No Way Home  generated. The film skyrocketed to an unprecedented $260 million domestic opening weekend, performing better than any theatrical release in history not named  Avengers: Endgame .  No Way Home  would sit comfortably atop the domestic weekend leaderboards for the following three weeks and would continue to rake in at least eight figures every weekend throughout January. ADVERTISEMENT While it is still showing in some cinemas across the country,  Spider-Man: No Way Home 's recent digital release has more or less concluded the film's theatrical run. Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man Gay Joke Removed on TV

Image
Spider-Man is undoubtedly the most famous character to have come out of Marvel Comics and, in many ways, Stan Lee's ultimate legacy. As such, the character has seen more adaptations than any other Marvel hero across cartoons, games, and blockbuster franchises - three of which just came together in epic fashion for  Spider-Man: No Way Home . Many fans' relationship with the web-slinging hero stems from Tobey Maguire's iconic two-decade-old portrayal of Spider-Man which spanned across a whole beloved trilogy. But since these films do come from a very different era, there are several major ways in which they differ from modern blockbusters. ADVERTISEMENT Not only is the VFX far behind what is seen on even television today, but some elements of the writing don't exactly match modern standards and culture, which has led to one joke being removed from a recent airing. Moon Knight DP Teases His Return In Upcoming MCU Project

Image
In keeping with the comics, Marvel Studios' Moon Knight on Disney+ hasn't shied away from highlighting the character of Marc Spector's struggle with Dissociative Identity Disorder. In addition to serving as the avatar of the Egyptian mood god, Khonshu, Spector's other personality is that of Steven Grant; and from what fans have seen, the two are likely to discover a third personality before the show concludes. Throughout the show's first four episodes, fans and critics alike have praised Oscar Isaac's performances as the two distinct personalities and those moments where the two talk to one another.  ADVERTISEMENT And, while Oscar Isaac deserves recognition for his plural portrayals, credit is also due to those behind the camera tasked with bringing Moon Knight 's complex story to the screen; and apparently, Marvel Studios is doing just that.  Moon Knight Cinematographer's Future Plans in the MCU Marvel In talking with ...

Marvel Reveals Doctor Strange 2's MacGuffin In New Trailer

Despite being just two weeks away, the plot of  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  remains vastly mysterious. Fans know the film will feature Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero teaming up with Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Xochitil Gomez's America Chavez as they navigate the Multiverse, but the specificities of the dangers that arise are still up in the air. Olsen's Scarlet Witch has been rumored to walk the line between good and evil, while trailer footage has spotlighted the tentacled titan Gargantos as a Kaiju that the heroes will have to do battle with. From there, speculation takes over. How will Patrick Stewart's Illuminati factor in? Is there a Captain Marvel Variant flying around? What does Kang the Conqueror think of all this? Marvel Rumor Teases Chris Hemsworth's Future After Thor: Love and Thunder

Image
Thor: Love and Thunder is setting records and making MCU history ahead of its July release, which goes far beyond it being the first time an MCU solo hero has gotten a fourth film. Its debut trailer dropped just 82 days before the film’s release (a historically short marketing window), and it managed to bring in the fourth-most views ever for a trailer released online.  Along with  Love and Thunder's ground-breaking moment as a fourth solo movie, it will also break barriers and set new standards for representation in comic book films. Tessa Thompson will represent the LGBTQ+ community as King Valkyrie and Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster becomes the new Thor in the MCU during her first starring MCU role in nine years. ADVERTISEMENT To many, Jane lifting Mjolnir looks like Marvel’s way of phasing Chris Hemsworth‘s God of Thunder out of the Avengers roster. This, combined with the movie’s main villain being Gorr the God Butcher, has many fans questionin...

Ms. Marvel Star Explains Why It's So 'Weird' Watching Herself In the MCU

Image
Moon Knight  is now four episodes into its season, with two left to go. Only a few weeks later, it'll be  Ms. Marvel 's time to shine. The young Pakistani American hero from New Jersey will finally get her chance to be introduced to audiences worldwide. While not much of the plot itself is known, it has been revealed that fans should brace themselves for some major changes. Instead of her usual stretchy powers, the character will instead be summoning light constructs, similar to Green Lantern. While many are divided about this change, the series is already promising to strike up conversations across the internet on a weekly basis. ADVERTISEMENT One of the most interesting aspects of Vellani's casting is how she's never acted before being hired by Marvel Studios. That's pretty crazy, especially considering she'll be one of the key figureheads of the MCU going forward. Well, now the actress behind the upcoming hero has commented on...

Through the first four weeks, fans have gotten their usual round of longer MCU Disney+ episodes, as has been the case with most of Phase 4's entries outside of WandaVision and the animated What If...? . Before Moon Knight premiered, fans learned that the first four episodes were anywhere from 45 to 51 minutes in length without credits, which proved to be accurate when the show arrived. Spider-Man Actor Campaigns for Disney+ Damage Control Spin-off (Exclusive)

Spider-Man: Homecoming  remains one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most pivotal installments, and its value only increases retrospectively. From the Tony Stark and Peter Parker bond being the catalyst for  Avengers: Endgame 's time heist to the Pepper Potts proposal laying the groundwork for where the Starks are emotionally come  Avengers: Infinity War , Spider-Man's first Marvel Studios outing is filled with crucial seeds that blossomed big shortly after. While the aforementioned moments have seen resolution,  Homecoming  still has a couple that have yet to sprout. The biggest of those is the Department of Damage Control (DODC), a federal division tasked with housekeeping. Its chores list is not exactly dishwashing and laundry, though. Marvel Fan Spots Possible Eternals Connection In New Doctor Strange 2 Trailer

Image
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is set to be a sequel that reaches far beyond Benedict Cumberbatch's franchise. The presence of Benedict Wong's Wong also links his 2021 Marvel appearances,  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings  and  Spider-Man: No Way Home , to  Doctor Strange 2 .  Out of all the Phase 4 projects fans have seen so far, the only one without a clear path moving forward is Chloe Zhao's  Eternals . With half the roster killed off and the active members splitting up, the futures of Sersi and company are still in question. Some have been brought before Arishem for judgement, whi...
