The upcoming  Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness  is a sequel full of both second steps and new beginnings. The film will continue the long-running stories of Benedict Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange and Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff, while also launching fan-favorite rookie characters like Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez. Since the promotional campaign for  Doctor Strange 2  kicked off in December 2021, America Chavez has been at the forefront alongside the film's leading stars. While Chavez is a Marvel Cinematic Universe freshman, she has been prominently featured on Marvel Comics pages over the past decade. ADVERTISEMENT In the comics, Chavez possesses the unique ability to travel through the Multiverse via her star portals. This defining power is set to translate to the big screen, as director Sam Raimi previously revealed that Strange will have  "to learn from a kid"  how to navigate the concept he knows frightenin...

James Gunn Defends Chris Pratt After Marvel Fans Petition to Cancel Him

Image
Chris Pratt is arguably one of the biggest names in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to his portrayal of Peter Quill/Star-Lord in four MCU outings to date, most notably the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise from James Gunn. Although the veteran Hollywood star is prepping for his long-awaited return in July's Thor: Love and Thunder , he's also been the subject of some unfortunate controversy off-camera. Over the past couple of years, Pratt has come under fire for reportedly being a member of a church that promotes anti-LGBTQ+ views. Pratt's also been called out for his political stances after not being a part of Democratic gatherings, leading to some fans wanting him canceled and replaced as Star-Lord within the MCU. ADVERTISEMENT Numerous MCU personalities have come to his defense after these remarks, including veterans like Robert Downey Jr. and major players like Thanos actor Josh Brolin. Now, as those callouts against Pratt resurface ...

Venom Director Defends Movie Against Negative Criticism

Prior to the mega-event that was Spider-Man: No Way Home , Sony Pictures added to its own Spider-Man Universe with Tom Hardy's Venom: Let There Be Carnage . Upon its arrival, it made an impact as one of the top-grossing movies of 2021, particularly due to its theaters-only release. Although it made over $90 million in its opening weekend, the critical reviews weren't so favorable. While Venom 2 came through as a mostly fun superhero outing, most of the reviews didn't exactly praise it for being something close to a work of cinematic art, as was the case with its predecessor in Venom. Many chided the films for being overstuffed with action and CGI, even though Sony still found a way to blow fans' minds with the post-credits scene in the sequel throwing Eddie Brock and Venom into the MCU, regardless of how short their stay was. ADVERTISEMENT The Venom franchise has seen plenty of success since it first debuted in 2018, with plans in place ...

Sometime in the next few years, Marvel Studios will finally have the opportunity to introduce the fabled X-Men into the MCU alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes. While it's still unknown how this will come about, multiple projects are already slowly coming together behind the scenes in this regard. From Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 3 to the oft-discussed  The Mutants , these powerful heroes are already set to make their mark. Part of the mystery behind the X-Men is which other new entries will actually go into production for Marvel Studios, particularly since there were some in early development before Marvel's acquisition of 20th Century Fox Studios.  ADVERTISEMENT One exciting addition was Channing Tatum's Gambit , which was initially set to release in theaters in March 2020 before the merger put anything X-Men-related on the backburner. The character made his only live-action appearance to date in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine alo...
