Will Hawkeye’s Swordsman Return to the MCU? Actor Shares Brief Response

Image
One of last year’s most festive shows was, without a doubt, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye . The series marked the first holiday story since Iron Man 3 and introduced Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop to the world. Many new characters came into play as well, including Vera Farmiga’s Eleanor Bishop, and Alaqua Cox’s Echo - even Vincent D’Onofrio returned as Kingpin. Another big figure from the comics brought to the silver screen was Tony Dalton’s Jack Duquesne. In the comics, Duquesne, otherwise known as the Swordsman, is a villain turned hero who previously trained Clint Barton as he grew up in the circus. While the two eventually butted heads more than once, Hawkeye’s mentor actually went on to become a temporary Avenger. ADVERTISEMENT However, the version of the character that audiences saw in the Disney+ project was certainly not what he is in the comics. In fact, the writers used the knowledge to pose him as a red herring. But what are the chances that Dalto...

Disney+ Honors Loki’s Sylvie, Hawkeye’s Kate Bishop & More for Women’s History Month

Image
As Marvel Studios expands into its Phase 4 story, and onto Disney+ through series storytelling, the MCU's roster of characters hasn't just grown but advanced due to an impressive number of new female characters. In fact, in just 2021 alone, Marvel introduced audiences to Black Widow 's Yelena Belova, Loki 's Sylvie, Kate Bishop from Hawkeye , the trio of Sersi, Makkari, and Thena from Eternals , and more.  This change is also taking place behind the camera as well, as many of the Disney+ series films that featured those female heroes were also directed by women. That group boasts  Black Widow 's Cate Shortland and the Eternals ' Academy Award-winning Chloe Zhao. ADVERTISEMENT Considering how long Scarlet Johansson's Natasha Romanoff was the only MCU heroine, and that 2019's Captain Marvel was the first Marvel film directed by a woman, it's clear that the studio has been intentional in making a change and in featuring ...

Hawkeye's Deleted Plot Twist Teases Potential Season 2 Plan

Image
Hawkeye  introduced a brand new chapter to Clint Barton's post-Infinity Saga adventure while showcasing the debut of the bow-wielding Avenger's predecessor, Kate Bishop. While the dynamic between Clint and Kate was pushed to the forefront through six episodes, the Disney+ series also served as the heroic transition of Hailee Steinfeld's Marvel hero.  Hawkeye didn't waste time in introducing Kate to MCU fans during its first episode. In the show's debut, fans learned about Kate's family background immediately, which introduced Vera Farmiga's Eleanor and Brian D’Arcy James' Derek Bishop.  ADVERTISEMENT Unfortunately, Kate's father died offscreen during the Battle of New York, with a funeral that ultimately cemented his fate. The character was not seen again, even in flashbacks, after the first episode, thus implying that there were no other plans for Derek Bishop.  However, a new rumor suggests that there were major pl...

Hawkeye's Jeremy Renner Reveals the Best Part of Joining Marvel

Image
Jeremy Renner is one of the most tenured actors of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First appearing in 2008's  Thor , Renner portrayed Agent Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye, who would become one of the first members of the original Avengers team. He appeared in three of the four  Avengers  films, and, in 2021, was finally able to headline his first solo MCU project, the Disney+ series  Hawkeye . Many fans worried that Clint's journey in the MCU would come to a close at the end of  Hawkeye . The series spent a considerate amount of time building the bond between Clint and Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop, leading many to believe that she would take up the mantle of Hawkeye and Clint would either perish in a heartbreaking way, or he would hang up the bow and return to his family for good. ADVERTISEMENT The last shot of the show featured Kate at Clint's house for Christmas and all seemed to be well, with the tease that Clint will con...

Hawkeye's Post-Credits Scene Makes MCU History

Image
Hawkeye recently proved to be one of Marvel Studios' most beloved Disney+ series yet, leaving behind the world-ending threats and game-changing reveals to tell a street-level superhero story that takes full advantage of its festive setting. Throughout its six-episode run, the archer-centric solo outing was widely praised for its characters, relationships, and excellent writing. Although,  Hawkeye  hit a bump in the road with its final moments as many fans were left dissatisfied by its post-credits scene. While most superhero movies and series use post-credits sequences to tease the future or insert a dramatic reveal,  Hawkeye  used it for comedic purposes with an extended version of the Captain America musical Clint attended in the premiere. ADVERTISEMENT Despite being widely panned by many, the scene broke one major MCU record by a large margin while also being rather unique in some other ways. Hawkeye Post-Credits Marks MCU Milestone Marvel Marve...

Hawkeye’s Kingpin Actor Improvised Big Moment

Image
Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye turned out to be a welcome surprise to many. The Disney+ series offered up an exciting, fun, and emotional Christmas tale which critics and fans seemingly adored. The world got to meet Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, who teamed up with her childhood hero, Clint Barton, as the two tried to mop up their mess in time for the holidays. The cherry on top? The show paved the way for Vincent D’Onofrio’s return as Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin. The character was last seen on Netflix’s Daredevil , a series that was canceled back in 2018. The villain has been a fan favorite ever since his first appearance, and when his show was canned, audiences thought they’d never see him again. ADVERTISEMENT Yet, Christmas came early, and the Kingpin of crime returned to the fold. His reveal was teased throughout the show’s six-episode runtime. While he wasn’t officially unveiled until Episode 5, one of the biggest teases involved only his arm. D'On...

Hawkeye's Yelena Originally Had a Bigger Role In the Finale

Image
Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye has been one of the best received MCU Disney+ series to date; the perfect way to close out the year. Audiences got to meet newcomer Hailee Steinfeld’s self-proclaimed “world’s greatest archer” in Kate Bishop as she stumbled into Clint Barton’s messy Ronin legacy. The Ronin's reputation caused them to be hunted by the Tracksuit Mafia led by Alaqua Cox’s Echo, who was seeking revenge for the death of her father. Things got dialed up to eleven when the two were ambushed by a Black Widow assassin—who turned out to be none other than Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova. The character was last seen in Black Widow after being assigned a hit on Clint Barton. Pugh always gives a performance that audiences love, and it was no different this time around. In particular, her dynamic with Kate Bishop was a standout and immediately had fans clamoring for an official team-up. ADVERTISEMENT Apparently, at one point, the world may have been able to...

Hawkeye's Kingpin Actor Reveals Upcoming Disney+ Show He'd Love to Appear In

Image
Kingpin made his MCU debut near the end of  Hawkeye , with actor Vincent D'Onofrio returning to play the character. D'Onofrio famously portrayed the character in Netflix's  Daredevil  series from 2016-2018, and with Disney and Marvel Studios now owning the rights to Kingpin, it was only a matter of time before he was brought into the interconnected universe. Kingpin's presence in  Hawkeye  was largely behind the scenes, as his character was only mentioned first during the ending of Episode 5 when he was shown on-screen through a phone belonging to Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop. The season finale, however, showcased D'Onofrio in full form, opening with a menacing conversation between himself and Vera Farmiga's Eleanor Bishop and then later showing him in action facing off with Kate. ADVERTISEMENT After his encounter with Kate, Kingpin was last seen being confronted by Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez. After Maya pulled out a gun an...
