In today's cinematic landscape, franchises are the name of the game due to the success of Harry Potter, James Bond, the DCU, Star Wars, Star Trek, and the juggernaut that is Marvel Studios. Ancient Egypt is set to find its way into more than one superhero project in 2022 thanks to Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam from DC and Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight from Marvel Studios. Moon Knight is in the final stages of preparation for its imminent release on Disney+, even boasting a native Egyptian on its staff in director Mohammed Diab. The Egyptian themes will play a major role in Marc Spector's MCU debut with the Moon God Khonshu initially giving Spector his Moon Knight persona and power set. Marvel recently released the first clip from the show as well, featuring Marc's first interaction with Khonshu, reaffirming how big of a role the god will play in this spooky solo series. Spider-Man: No Way Home remains the hot topic of the blockbuster movie community as fans eagerly await the threequel's home release in the next few weeks. This comes on top of an intriguing run in the awards circuit, which is now chugging along into the 2022 Academy Awards. Some fans believe that  No Way Home  was snubbed by The Academy, only being nominated for one Oscar for Best VFX. However, it's among the leaders for two newly introduced fan awards that will be announced at the ceremony. Although there are rare exceptions, like The Dark Knight and Black Panther , superhero movies have largely been left out of cinema's biggest awards for reasons still unknown. Amidst the rise of streaming and cord-cutting, the reign of franchises and sequels, and the uncertain future of the box office, there has been one constant: Marvel Studios. As other studios struggle with what audiences want and how they choose to consume it, theater chains can always count on the public to return to the big screen for an MCU blockbuster as Shang-Chi  and the now record-breaking Spider-Man: No Way Home has proven.  Still, while the general public loves the MCU, Hollywood doesn't necessarily feel the same way.
